The Melbourne Inn is definitely not for those who insist on great decor but it is conveniently located and clean and best of all the staff are really friendly and helpful.The telephone service arrangements are a major problem but compared to other inns of similar price the Melbourne is good value for money. Good choice of name too.Many thanks to Cordell, Bonnie and Joan who are simply wonderful and make up for any other shortcomings the inn may have.I would recommend this place to anyone who wants relatively inexpensive but clean and secure accomodation in Trinidad but some small cosmetic changes would make a lot of difference.

We stayed at the Melbourne Inn in August 2002. If you want somewhere reasonable and friendly to stay in POS it fits the bill. The decor is nothing to write home about and the air conditioning rattles like hell but the rooms are big and have en suite bathrooms and toilets. The staff are all friendly and helpful, and the location in Woodbrook is both secure and convenient. The Mas Camp pub is yards away, there are good restaurants, taxi, car hire and a bank within a block or two and transport to the beach or the city can be flagged down on the corner. Fans of carnival, cricket and soccer will find this a convenient place to stay. If you're on a budget you could do a lot worse.
