Has been renovated twice in the last few years but for some reason still feels dated. I think it's primarily because the staff/management couldn't bother about upkeep and maintenance. Certain areas of the common areas and rooms show age and wear/tear. That's to be expected somewhat, but they rest on their laurels as being one of the only decent convention hotels in the area and don't bother to rise up to a higher standard. The staff were congenial and friendly, but there were no examples of major customer service efforts. The hotel is going through the motions and providing an average product for what I would argue is a slightly higher price than is warranted ($180USD/night). The location is great - except you do need car hire to get around (same everywhere). Few options in Trinidad and part of the problem here may be that Trinidad itself is not as oriented towards tourist travel as other places in the world.
