We put our Carnival trip together way too late, but found only this and 2 other hotels available for the 4 days we would be in town for Carnival. The owner (?) told us she had only 1 room left (also found out later she had 1 room left for 2 other couples) for only a 10 day package and for $1000 US, take it or leave it. We found the other hotels @ $250 a night would have been the same price for 4 days but we elected for the quaint and to pump $ into the local economy rather than a big hotel chain. The friendless and warmness advertised in the brochure must have been on holiday during our visit, however. The lady manager seemed more interested in our keeping our A/C too cold or the fact that we wanted to give our room to a friend to finish out the remaining 5 days than being warm and friendly. The staff was reluctant to socialize and the night workers seemed out of touch with the surroundings (no one came close to being able to give us information). The aura of the staff was strange at best. We were told there would be tons of info on Carnival but only received a sheet of events and no other information and no one knew much more. Someone should have removed the feathers from the ducks before adding them to the pillows, and the mattress is about 6, so good luck if you are used to a soft bed. However, being only 3 blocks from the central savanna grand stand make up for a lot of the lacking of this place. The grocery store & Internet Café ½ block away and fast food 1 block away were very convenient as well. Par May Las wont be the first on our list next time we visit P.O.S. but it did seem better than a lot of the guest houses we saw, if only for the A/C. (Would fear a hotel in the city in summer with no A/C!!!)
