Had an opportunity to stay at this hotel for a one-night business trip to POS. I wound up at this hotel since the Hyatt was sold-out. After reading some previous reviews, I was a bit hesitant to stay at this hotel, as there aren't many good options in the city.
As soon as I checked-in, my feelings were put at ease. The staff was wonderful to interact with, and couldn't have done any better at accommodating my needs. The check-in was a fast and friendly process.
The hotel, while an older property, is up to date and very clean. My room and bed were very comfortable and everything was in working order. My only complaint was that the internet was of very slow speed, not conducive for business. That was the only disappointing part of my stay at the Crown Plaza.
I would without hesitation recommend this hotel as a suitable alternative to the much higher priced Hyatt right across the street. The staff really made this hotel a good experience.

I just recently returned from my trip from Trinidad and gotta say I enjoyed my stay at the Crowne Plaza very much. Upon arrival they upgraded me to a room on the upper floors that just had been remodeled. The room was much bigger then I am used to from hotels which is nice and makes the stay more comfortable. Yes the building is a little older but I saw throughout my stay that they were working in several areas on updating and remodeling. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed the conversations with the bartenders when I had my good night drink as well as the recommendations on what to do in and around Port of Spain from the lady at the bell desk. The front desk staff is also very attentive and rather ask twice or three times to ensure that you are helped. I enjoyed a great Sunday brunch at the rotating restaurant on the top floor - I think they call it the 360 degree restaurant.
In a nutshell: For me it is important to stay at a clean and safe place with friendly service and the Crowne Plaza in Port of Spain fulfilled all that criteria for me. I will certainly be back.
