5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2010

Stayed here only for two nights but the hotel was small and friendly. Reception staff could cheer up a bit. But overall had a nice time here would come back. Josh security was a diamond, Nigel taxi driver was nice also and Tina the cleaner was lovely very helpful and full of smiles. Pool area small but nice. Entertainment was good on Sat night. Met some nice people here. Manager was nice upgraded our room to a superior which was bigger then my whole flat. Would defo recommend I would go back

“Loved it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2010

It was my second time staying at Trade Winds hotel. I stayed for approximately a week in the deluxe suite and was very pleased with the accommodation. My hubby and I got in late at night and was still welcomed with a midnight check in. The facility is very clean, very roomy and contains modern fixtures. Daily room service was available, with the option of opting out of it (if you'd like to have a late sleep in). The bathroom was very, very clean. A small kitchenette with a coffee maker, some eating utensils, microwave and mini fridge was very useful. Wifi is also a plus factor, along with cable tv and a safe, which made leaving the room with valuable items less of a worry. For easy accessibility to eating, a small restaurant is located downstairs (the food is also good).
The smaller downfalls: the rooms are a bit pricey (but worth it) as is the restaurant and the pool is located in a very open area, which makes it a bit uncomfortable for some (next to the check in site and between the rooms and restaurant).
My previous stay in the superior room which is cheaper but still clean and comfortable only had one small downfall: the bed was broken! Every small twist and turn made it a bit difficult to sleep as the noise was a bit loud. This problem was only in the superior room however.

All in all, I would still recommend this facility once you are willing to pay a bit of money.

“Good Choice in Claxton Bay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2009

There isant a great deal of chioce in Claxton Bay, but if you have to stay in the Bay, this is the place. I stayed here after a long flight from london for the night. Staff were very friendly and relaxed, while going out of their way to accommodate.
Moved on form here after the night as the rest of my collegues were staying at Cara suites.

Its a relatively small hotel, rooms are a little outdated, but comfortable. The food is good, id recommend the lobster for dinner, cheap and tasty!
The pool is small, but with a limited number of guests, adequate.

Excuse the grainy pics, blacberrys arnt noted for their great cameras.

“Loved TradeWinds”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2008

My family stayed here for three nights, as we were in Trinidad for a wedding. Prior to this hotel we stayed in two others, one horrible, the other amazing. This hotel was also in the excellent range. We found the hotel staff to be absolutely fantastic! They were beyond kind and helpful, even remembered my mom from two months ago on the phone. Our room was very large, and very clean compared to others in the area. Everything worked perfect, the fridge, ac, tv, etc. While some say the food is over priced, I disagree as we thought it was excellent. Beer in the room was only 9-12tt's, $2 or less American, which was great, especailly being a Canadian and often paying triple for a drink in the room. The hotel restaurant was fantastic too, as well as the food. The manager was constantly checking on us to make sure we were doing well, so I have to say no problems at all. Internet was perfect too. The airport shuttle in the morning was even more beneficial, and cost savings. The only down would have been the bar. We couldn't even go in there becasue it was absolutely freezing due to the massive AC they have. But besides that, it was a great hotel to stay in. We will be back!

“Safe Clean Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2008

I stayed for seven days at the Trade winds whilst on business at Port Lisas.
I have read the other reviews, and I think it all depends on what you expect of the area.
The room I had was clean. The aircon worked, as did the fridge and TV. I am not pretending it was luxury, but it was far better than some I have stayed in. The pool bar and restaurant is just fine, though I agree it is expensive. The food was great..
Above all The Tradewinds is safe being in a quiet area, which I think is very important in Trini , crimes of violence being on the up in a big way. One thing I must point out to all travellers. It is not safe to go out in Trinidad unless in a car with a trusted driver. I left the Trade Winds in good shape, which is all a service engineer can ask for in this world
