“Disgusting”

I recently visited Trinidad and stayed in the Bel Air Hotel and found that maybe I should have read the reviews before booking!! To begin with they charge ONE price for nationals and another price for TOURISTS!!!!! How very sly!
The room was filthy and the towels were worn. The smell that permeated the room was one of rot and mold. The boards creaked and the door had to be shoved shut!
The beverages were priced so high it was easier waiting to get one at a side road shop!!
The bathroom had opened soaps and the toilet floor was WET!!! yuck!!!!!
I would NOT recommend this to my dying enemy!!!!
Bel Air should be renamed.......Smell Air!!!

Room Tip: Rooms are disgusting!

The reviews say it all. Not a good place. Only positive is the location. There are better alternatives around that are just as close and a lot cheaper, which we stayed at the second time. Can't see how they justify the price they charge...

“TOTAL RIP OFF, NAME SHOULD CHANGE TO HELL AIR”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2010

In a NUTSHELL, Old and Filthy Hotel, Rude Staff except for the Lounge Staff, Food and Drinks to match Hyatt Price. A Complimentary Rat in Room, Antique furniture and staff.
My Room's Toilet came with a swinging Bowl (Complimentary) I believe. You can decide now where to stay.

“Worst. Hotel. Ever.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2009

We booked this hotel because it was close to the airport, we were getting in late and flying to Tobago early so it only made sense to stay here. There are times when sense fails you.

This was the most horrific hotel experience. Our room was filthy. The shower and sink stained. The linoleum was destroyed by water damage. I think the sheets were clean, the comforter obviously was not. Fortunately, it was warm and we slept on the bed in our clothes. We were frightened. Afterwards, we were told by our friends in Tobago that the Trinidad gov't warns against staying in this hotel. We were not surprised. One of the other reviews said they did not see roaches as even they have higher standards. That's about right.

  • Liked — Location, but not worth it
  • Disliked — The way I felt dirty for days afterwards
