While in Grenada for the month of February, 2010, we took the ferry to Carriacou and spent two nights at the Bogle Roundhouse. The Mango cottage we stayed in was rated the best of the three cottages, so I'm glad we were not in either of the other two. Rustic, is probably the kindest word to describe it. No TV, radio or phone and a ceiling fan/light that was not working did not help. We never did try the stove, but it looked like it came out of the Ark. Primitive, would have been another way to describe the accommodation. There was a mosquito net, but as the weather had been so dry, we had no need for it. To be fair, there are probably a lot of much younger people, who might enjoy the experience, but the older you get, the more you seem to enjoy the comforts of life and lizards running over your feet ,while sitting on the toilet, has somehow lost its majic for us! The water taxi driver, Neiko, took us to Paradise Beach, which was an enjoyable day. The big attraction at the Roundhouse however, is the food at the restaurant. Two women did the bartending, waitressing and cooking , and the food was out of this world. No wonder Roxanne won awards for the best chef in Carriacou and in Grenada. My wife and I, are both regarded as being good cooks and we know good food when we taste it. We take our hats of to you Roxanne, and to your apprentice, for a wonderful dining experience. They are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and I am not sure why, because a number of people told me in Grenada, that they tried to get a booking on the nights they were open, but couldn't, because it is so popular. On the Tuesday night, we went to the Lime and Dine in Hillsborough, that had a limited menu, but excellent food at reasonable prices. Two days was enough time on a small island and the only reason we would return, in spite of the very friendly people, would be because of Roxanne's cooking!
