“Nice, no frills spot”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2009

I spent a night here when I was on the Island for a few days before a week long Tradewinds sailing cruise. The room was nice, but basic. Getting luggage to the room is a bit of a schlepp. After staying one night, they were concerned by the approach of a major storm, so they managed to move me across the bay for the other two nights of my stay.

Worthwhile if you want to hang on the island for a few days before or after a Tradewinds sailing trip.

“3 restaurants in 30secs walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2009

I don't recognise where the previous review was staying. The hotel is basic, clean with an excellent restaurant right below and 2 more 30 seconds walk away all of which are very tourist friendly . The hotel is a 5 minute walk from town and you feel safe day and night. The locals are fantastic and will stop and chat, great when you get used to the accent. Only down side is friday night party at devils table restaurant below the hotel- great time, but does get loud. The helpful office does shut at night but keith the dock security guard is also a water taxi driver. there is a beach right at your doorstep that is clean, plenty of people swim there.

“Stay somewhere else”

Clean and beautiful, but isolated. Its real purpose is to house Tradewinds cruise club crew between charters. The building is the club's office. Once the office closes - just as soon as the catamarans sail on Saturday morning - everyone leaves the building which stays totally isolated and deserted. If you are the lucky one paying full price to stay there, you have no way of communicating with the water taxi to go anywhere. No services nearby, no food, no restaurants. One or two grim neighborhood hangouts - bars, strictly for locals, behind the building at a neighborhood not meant for outsiders (and best avoided). No way of getting dinner, lunch or breakfast, no swimming nearby - it is located in the edges of the port.

And all the time being just across from one of the more beautiful small hotels in the world, with a restaurant to boot: the Frangipani, and its counterpart, the Gingerbread. Save yourself the aggravation and book at either of these two. Avoid the TW by the Sea and Marina
