We hesitate to write this review, because we found Frangipani to be a charming hotel in an ideal location, with a friendly and helpful staff. But we reluctantly add two caveats: First, rooms in the old stone plantation building, where we stayed, have neither windows nor screens, and the wood jealousies do not suffice to keep out mosquitoes and other bugs. The hotel provides bug juice and mosquito netting, but, if you're sensitive to insect bites, you'll probably get bitten anyway. Second, the hotel is adjacent to the Whaleboner Bar, and you will not be able to get to sleep until 11:30 p.m. or later if that bar is featuring live entertainment. The windowless rooms offer no sound buffering, and you will hear every syllable of every song until the booming entertainment ends. Unless you want to join the Whaleboner party, avoid this hotel on jam nights.

I expected more given the price and hype. I had booked a "garden" room and it did indeed overlook the garden, as well as the parking area. Woken at 6am by someone's backup warning. It was on the "ground floor" (the hotel was empty, so just think the receptionist could not be bothered to walk up steps to show me to another on the second floor), and felt slightly insecure in a room which was meant to be open to the world (no a/c). I would normally be fine but it was hot and humid and just did not enjoy the opportunity to open the slats so felt oddly claustrophobic and yes, the mosquitoes are bad. I call thm slats, but to be clear, they were wooden slatted closres with open slits so not much protection against insects. The balcony was spacious, but rain discouraged use. The room was large as was the bathroom, but very dated and showing its age. The room on offer was probably appropriate at $50 a night in 1995, but it is now a bit of a rip-off given the slipshod service and couple of decades of discovering to what a good hotel should aspire. lack of view and tired fittings. Bequia is extraordinarily lovely and a wonderful place just to wander around, but Frangipani is clearly gliding by on its oligopoly. Possibly proximity to Mustique has provided an undeserved complacence.

This is a super friendly place with a lovely outdoor bar anbd restaurant overlooking the sea. Food is not as good as the wonderful Gingerbread House restaurant next door (under same managment) but acceptable. They were closing down for two months the last day of my stay so things were a bit hectic and they were out of a lot of food choices

I had a Garden View room which was on a bit of a hill with a wrap around balcony overlooking a garden. Very nice to lie in bed and feel the breeze on all sides. Note that they have fans but no airconditioning in the rooms and it can get hot. Also, the mosquitoes are incredible but the hotel thoughtfully provides spray!

WIFI in the bar area is supposed to be complimentary but they were waiting on a part. However, the Friendship Rose office next door has a good and free WIFI signa you can use.

Rooms are very clean and the laundry service is fantastically efficient.

I'll be back and will stay at the Frangi again.

We booked this hotel to stay during our Friendship Rose schooner sailing excursion. The staff here are extremely friendly and hospitable. We booked the original rooms and it came with two beds, desk, chair, mosquito nets, closet, and wash basin. Toilets and hot showers are shared at the end of the hall and were clean. My only complaint was that the shutter window in the room tends to rattle in the night from the wind as I was trying to sleep.I had it open and it rattled but when I close the window completely, the room heats up too much.

On site, there is a wonderful bar and restaurant and they served the best key lime pie I ever had. I also had the luxury of staying during steel band night and enjoyed an evening of wonderful entertainment.
