I stayed one night in room 27 which was in the back of the property in a two story building with no views. My colleagues stayed in room 29 and room 54, both of which overlooked the water. They were really pleased with their rooms. We paid EC$421 per room per night. I would have been perfectly satisfied with my room if the air conditioning had worked all night since it would have kept me cool and masked the road noise. (The air conditioning unit turned off constantly after about 10 minutes no matter what button I pushed.) My colleagues with water view and partial water view rooms reported no road noise from their area.
The room itself was quite clean and really enormous including a full kitchenette, but everything was really tired. The furniture was many decades old but in good repair. I was a bit concerned with the security of my room since the iron security gate was not lockable. The rear window by the kitchenette did not have any window at all, just wooden louvers. The bed was fine and all the linens were clean and pressed. There was an ironing board and iron, which was much appreciated. The bathroom was spotless but similarly quite tired like the rest of the room.
Breakfast the next day was completely acceptable as well with nicely ripe mango and local bananas and the people were friendly and welcoming. Checkout was quick and efficient. The breakfast area has a nice view of the water and Young Island. There is a very nice beach in front of the hotel that I didn't get to experience since I had to go off to meetings immediately after breakfast.
I would stay here again, but would seek to be in room 29 and 54 that my colleagues had. I'm sure if I had a water view and time to walk on the beach in the morning, the tired rooms would have magically changed into "quaint" or "beach house chic" in my mind.
