We have stayed in few places as relaxed, unpretentious, and yet service oriented as the Hermitage.
Sure, there are 'fancier' inns on Nevis. If you are looking for marble floors, name-brand shampoo/shower gel amenities, and dress codes, this is not your place. But if you want attentive service, peace, gorgeous views, truly friendly owners and staff, and a place to put your feet up and remember why people love the Caribbean, look no further.
Richie, the owner, and his family take obvious pride in getting things right. They seem to care about each guest individually. Cadila, at the reception desk, ensures that everything goes perfectly. The individual cabins are informally decorated, and the inn has more than a few rustic edges showing - for example, a wooden gate between one area of the property and another creaks a bit as it swings. There is no air conditioning, but there are large ceiling fans that do the trick.
Food is excellent, whether at breakfast (coconut French toast is amazing) or at dinner. There's a tiny, but cozy bar off the dining verandah. Talk with Richie, and he might let you sample some of his private Scotch - it's just that kind of a place.
We can't recommend this inn highly enough - IF you prefer rusticity, simplicity and comfort over formality.
