“Escape Peace Well Priced Carribean Resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

I was on the Beachfront, Ocean Mist.
Large comfortable old fashioned King Beded room with a sea-front porch
Ate a couple of times in the Restaurant
Simple Gilled Mahi Mahi was very good, together with the Sweet Potatoe Soup
If you want a, simple easy retreat, far from the maddening crowd come here
Diving was very much in evidence and a Spa, but I did not partake

Room Tip: AS far as I could see all ocean view similar ... old fashioned.

“30th anniversary”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

We spent 10 days at Oualie Beach for our 30th wedding anniversary in January 2012. This place was great. Room was large and very clean with great views from our beachfront balcony on the second floor. We stay in the Conch Shoal room, which is at the far end of the resort. It was very quiet and relaxing. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to our requests. Rent a car and explore the island. Try some of the local restaurants. as well. Banana's, coconut grove, gallipot amd crishi's are some good ones. We had a wonderful time on Nevis, thanks to the stall at Oualie. They will do everything they can to make your stay a great memory.

Room Tip: conch shoal room is a good choice for peace and quiet.

“Nice hotel and great location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Nice hotel and great location! The hotel is only 4 minutes from the airport! Very friendly staff that was very helpful. You can play water sports, relax in a nice hammock on the beach, chill at the bar which is right on the beach, check out the spa which I didn't do or grab a bit to eat at the restaurant. There restaurant has good island food and is open pretty late which was great cause our flight was delayed. There rum punch welcome drink tasted great! They can also hook you up with a great tour (TC) guide to give you a great tour around the island. The hotel has a great view of St. Kitts which is only a few miles away. The only reason this hotel didn't get an excellent rating was 2 things, 1. the TV in the room was very small (15 inches) and 2. the A/C in the room was very smelly! I didn't even use the A/C because it was very breezy and cool but the smell from it was horrible. The A/C wasn't cleaned in a long time so the mold had the room smelling.

Room Tip: All the rooms are on the beach!

Thanks for the constructive feedback. We have brand new 32 inch flat screen TV's arriving this month to replace the few remaining small old TV's. We have also just hired a Maintenance Engineer "Buzz" (Brian Liburd) who is rapidly addressing the A/C maintenance issues that you raised. We are determined to get the top possible score from your next reviewso please visit us again soon.

Thanks for choosing Oualie Beach Resort,
John Yearwood

“I shall miss this place enormously”

This is my third or fourth review of Oualie Beach - and my last for a while as our work has finished in the East Caribbean for the foreseeable future.

Candidly I very much like the Oualie as I do Nevis as a whole. This hotel is not a chain hotel - and doesn't pretend to be. It's clean, comfortable with excellent a/c and well screened balconies. The rooms are large, the fridge good, beds comfortable and the staff caring and friendly. You are literally on the beach - I walked 33 paces from the room to the water - I counted. And it's a very good beach, golden sand with a clean, clear sea which attracts locals and families over the weekend.

I get a hire car when in Nevis. I like to get out and about as there are some really good restaurants to visit and places to drop into. I would recommend Golden Rock for its stunning view, Pizza Beach (literally beside the airport runway and the sea)
Indian Summer (opposite Yachtsman Grill) beware the enormous starters and the 'medium' chicken curry ( excellent) had a very definite afterburn. Remember that in both St. Kitts & Nevis there is a 10% service charge, 10% VAT and 2% other tax added to prices; if you're not sure check the menu.

The restaurant/bar is good and represents value; literally next door (10 yards) is a windsurf, dive, watersport hire/tuition place.

I like the free wifi as I need to keep an eye on things but I like the freedom to unwind and relax. A final piece of advice: wherever you go in St Kitts & Nevis at dusk and later, Deet up and then do it again especially if you're going to a beach. The sandflies at night are waiting just for you......

A super place if you like to do your own thing; not a place for those that need the security of a chain or resort property.

“Hoping to return soon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

It has taken me too long to review our wonderful trip to Nevis. This quiet island is perfect for anyone looking for unmatched serenity and scenery. Stacy and the staff at Qualie Beach Resort was very helpful in making arrangements for travel to and from St. Kitts airport. We had several meals on the premises and they were all great. In the offseason this is a very peaceful, private place, although the Qualie Beach did liven up during a few afternoons with college students and there was an enjoyable happy hour crowd some nights. If you stay here you must go next door to meet Winston and rent a kayak. Next time I'll be sure to save time for a bike rental as well. The resort typically has a taxi driver on call to take you wherever you want and will be glad to give you an impromptu tour of the island for a fair rate.

Room Tip: I would recommend picking up some bug spray for evenings on the beach to avoid bites.
