“Bird rock-a mixed review”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 February 2011

A mixed review-the hotel is in a good part of town on the Caribbean side of the island. There are no restaurants nearby. A grocery is about a mile away, but uphill and no sidewalks to use. The hotel property is large and has lots of flights of stairs-especially to the main desk and down to the small beach/bar area. The bar is fine, the beach is about 20-30 feet wide and far from any of the rooms. There is good snorkeling there though. The pool is OK, there is no bar at the pool as advertised-it has been closed for 4 years. We had a room with a kitchen, (you need matches for the stove), it is the tropics, so be meticulous with food or you will have bugs. Air conditioning worked-had a few power failures. Internet only works down in the bar and occasionally by the pool. If you want a hair dryer or iron, you have to give a $25 deposit for each. Breakfast was OK, a little pricey, service is definately island time, Miss Edna is great. The reason we stayed there-there is a scuba service on the hotel property, which was great, especially Alex and Steve!! The hotel is dated, needs updating, rooms were clean. There are several buildings on the property-ask for the 300 or 400 to be near the pool and scuba. If you want a resort-this isn't the place-stay at the Mariott which is closer to bars, restaurants, etc. (Their pizza by the pool at the Mariott is great!!) I f you want to read by the pool and have peace and quiet and have easy access to a scuba company, this works. Everything you do is a taxi ride-$10-$12, otherwise rent a car if you don't mind driving on the left.

“Bugs,worms and a Rat!”

Do not stay at this hotel..find somwhere else. There was us and 4 other people at hotel supposedly 75 percent of hotel was full but mostle rented to students. Pool was murky and unawimmable, raw sewage running thru left side of resort and a resident rat at the beach bar. The first night we had some roach like bug and red worms in room, second night we had bathroom full of ants , 5 worms around the room and ants in the bed. We awoke with bites all over us!!! We told the office about the situation and they said they would spray and change sheets and get us a new room. We left and came back 6 hours later nothing they said was done to our and the the new had no ac room was 120 degrees. That was the last straw we checked out and they seem shocked that we wanted to leave.!!Save yourself aggravation and stay elsewhere,

“I was one of the first to stay here, while promoting St Kitts tourism”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2011

While working in the travel industry I inspected many hotels - and I was lucky enough to travel to St Kitts and Nevis back in the 1980's before this destination was packaged by many wholesalers. We were fortunate to get St Kitts packaged by many tour operators out of Detroit, Chicago, etc etc.

I stayed at the Bird Rock Beach Resort the first week it had opened and I was very pleased. ( *Please note I had to list a current year that I visited here when it was actually many years ago )
I found this hotel to be very tranquil and that is something that you don't always find with all the larger resorts popping up all the time. I was very pleased to be at a place where I could truly find rest and relaxation along with a wonderful swimming pool facing out to one of the most spectacular views I had ever seen - the views of Nevis could not be beat!
This hotel is smaller, clean and quite comfortable and I recommend it highly!

“Quiet, Comfortable with Marvelous Staff”

Stayed for 7 nights at the Bird Rock in early December. This was our third visit. The location is great -close to town and the main island road, yet remains quiet. The grounds are beautiful with lush flowers. During our stay buildings were being repainted and the wooden wall along the drop to the beach was being replaced. Our room had also been repainted with new curtains and small appliances in the kitchen. Not coincidently this was the same room we stayed in our last visit. Liz at the front desk remembered our names and that we needed a first floor room - after 2 years!

Everyone was very friendly and helpful! We will stay here again.

“Outstanding diving site with awesome people!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2010

We cruised to this area over Christmas and wanted to take the day in St. Kitts to dive. Knowing that the cruise ships overcharge and overcrowd their dives, we checked independently of cruise excursions and found Dive St. Kitts. I corresponded with Wendy - an absolutely delightful lady - who gave me all of the information we needed and was kind enough to arrange everything from transfers to a place for my sister (who does not dive) to accompany us. We got there and could not be happier. The location of the dive shop (in the hotel) was beautiful - a quiet little gem of an area. Also, we had great instructors who told us what we would see on each dive. Both dives were fantastic. Captain Crabby was awesome, and our dive instructors were top notch. We also got to hang out at the hotel/bar in between dives and rehydrate since the dive sites were so close to the hotel. I would definitely dive with Wendy and her crew again. It was wonderful!!
