When we had a stopover in St. Kitts, we were told that we must, without fail, visit Brimstone Fortress and Rawlins Plantation.
The fortress is in beautiful condition and not to be missed - but Rawlins is something else again.
On the verandah at sunset sitting with a long cool local drink chatting with Kevin, the owner, and his delightful staff was a sublime experience that we will never forget - we thought we had died and gone to heaven!
The dinner was wonderful - the plantation house, it's grounds and fascinating bedrooms were all absolutely stunning. We were back the next day for lunch (well worth another trip from our pre-booked indifferent hotel at the busy end of the island) and the dream continued!
Don't go to St. Kitts without a visit to Rawlins or, even better, stay in one of their gorgeous rooms - we certainly will next time.
