Watching the sunrise over the ocean while lying in a comfortable king size bed, then eating a delicious breakfast that varied from eggs benedict with salmon, mango and blueberry pancakes, french toast souffle, sausage, bacon, breakfast burritos, chocolate croissants, crepes, and of course all kinds of fresh fruit, yogurt, homemade granola, etc., before boarding a beautiful 42' dive boat that was only a short ride to some of the most spectacular diving I've ever done. That's just the way your days will begin at Pirate's Point in Little Cayman.
The staff was extremely professional and very conscious of everyone's safety on every dive. They actually rescued 3 divers from another dive operation that drifted away from their boat and found themselves lost and low on air. Martha, Gay, Bob, and Michelle, really know how to show everyone things that most people would probably overlook to maximize everyone's Little Cayman diving experience. It's refreshing to see people with so many years of experience between them still be so enthusiastic about their jobs. It's obvious they just love what they do.
After a couple hours of bottom time we're whisked back to the resort for another fantastic meal. Lunches were better than most dinners I've had at other resorts and restaurants around the Caribbean. Shrimp scampi over fusilli, fresh baked bread, southern fried chicken, cream of brie soup with croutons, turkey pot pie, chicken Parmesan, day after day I found myself taking as many pictures of the beautiful and delicious food as I did of all the other beautiful things above sea level. Diane and Jeff are master chefs and really make sure everyone will have something they'll enjoy.
The afternoons can be whatever you make of them. Grab a bicycle and go exploring, take a swim in the pool, go for a walk up the beach, read a book in a hammock, or some great snorkeling right in front of the resort.
At 6:30 the appetizers are served at the self serve bar and everyone congregates to see what Jeff has created for us. At 7:30 the dinner bell rings and we're seated in the dining room. The dinners that Jeff created for us were nothing short of spectacular. Fillet Mignon, Sushi grade tuna steaks, mahi mahi, pork tenderloin, etc. brought the dining room to enthusiastic rounds of applause night after night. It's clear that Chef Jeff takes your dining experiences very seriously and not only knows how to mix flavors like an artist mixes colors on a canvas, but also makes them look so good you feel almost guilty taking your utensils to them...almost.
Just be prepared for a regimented schedule. Breakfast bell rings at 8, dive boat bell rings at 9, lunch is right after you're brought back to the resort, appetizers at 6:30, dinner at 7:30, and then coffee in the bar right after dinner so the staff can begin setting up the dining room for breakfast.
All in all it was everything I could have hoped for in a Caribbean diving trip and after one week it's clear to me why so many people go back to Pirate's Point Resort year after year. Value.
