“One of the best overall experinces I've had in a long time.”

We chose coral sands because of the size and the location.. However Harry made our stay one of the best We've had in a long long time..Anything you wanted to do or wanted to go.. or needed Harry had ready......Its a great thing to wake up walk 7 steps to the beach, grab a float and just relax on the ocean for a while... Or ask Harry to make a reservation for stingray city... I've already called and started making plans for next year.. staying longer... We can't wait to go back... The only drawback for me was the bed and pillows, very hard and lumpy.. But a small price to pay for paradise...

Room Tip: Ask for unit 12 or 1.. which faces to ocean.. or 11 or 2 which have ocean views...

“If you like to be taken care of and not have a million people around this is your place!”

My wife and I went there to get married. We had some friends and family with us and EVERYONE loved the resort. The staff went out of their way to accommodate any of our request or needs. The resort is located near a shopping center and is in walking distance to some nice shops and dinning places. The pool is a great way to cool off or you can walk 20 feet to a secluded beach and watch the sun set. Harry and Marlin will set you up on any kind of trip you are looking for, weather it be swimming with the dolphins, or swimming with the stingrays. If you like to ride horses there is a nice farm to go horseback riding on the beach. They even come to the resort and pick you up and will bring you back! If you need any kind of snorkeling gear the resort will gladly let you borrow theirs at no charge! This resort had everything we were looking for and more. We wanted a nice relaxing vacation with friends and family and that is exactly what Coral Sands gave us. If you want a nice quiet resort to stay then I would say give Coral Sands a call!

“One of the best places I've stayed....”

I've been to a few islands & have stayed from condo-type places to all inclusive ones. This one ranked in the top in places to stay for me.
We went here for my girlfriends wedding. There were 11 of us & other than a couple other families we got to meet and hang out with & a couple other guests who did their own thing, it felt like we had the whole resort to ourselves. Quaint & secluded, it is close enough to downtown and far enough away from all the commercialized resorts we felt like we were on our own island. There is a grocery store across the street and it is convenient & easy to run out and grab something you may have forgot but once we walked onto the resort we were back to peace mode.
We were lucky enough to stay in Unit #1 that looks out over the water. Such a beautiful sight. The condo was well equipped & clean....we didnt have any issues with the floors not being clean enough and well, you also have to take into consideration that you are at the beach, and sand & dirt is a common thing on earth. And, in fact, we didnt even answer the door 2 of the days that the cleaning ladies came. Any glitches we had, were fixed asap. We did turn up the air every morning & closed the blinds so it would stay cooler & since we weren't in the room most of the day, it seemed silly to keep the air down.
I am not a high maintenance person...I don't nit pick at every little detail. My mentality on vacations is I'm luckier than most to have traveled as much as I have & there will be glitches along the way...its part of life. When something goes wrong in your home, do you jump up & down & scream at YOURSELF because something went wrong??? Probably not. We all pay good money to go on vacation, but I pay good money for my house & things go wrong with that. And those little things dont matter, because when you walk outside your room to this beautiful view & small intimate setting & you are on a breath taking island, does this stuff really make a difference...look at the bigger picture here. I'm sorry. Nothing is perfect. This isnt The Truman Show. Back to the resort...
I thought the pool was just fine. Perfect size for taking a dip...and if you want to swim, walk 50 yards west & there is a giant natural pool for you to go swimming. I have never stayed anywhere where snorkeling was right in front of you. Very cool. Now, you do need to wear water shoes & go slow & watch your footing but you could still swim there. And to not have to travel & make a day of going to & from snorkeling was a bonus to me.
The staff was extremely accommodating & very friendly. Harry was awesome! Laid back, yet extremely efficient & funny too! The staff went out of their way to rake the beach (and who cares if they brought sand in.....I sodded my yard, does that make me fake?) and even made an aisle out of palm trees, conch shells & sea rocks and at the end of the aisle they made it into a heart. It was beautiful & so impressed how much they went out of their way to make my friends special day even more special.
Loved the patio/lounge area! I have to admit i was the last one to go to bed every night, not only because I didnt want to miss one minute of this vacation, but it was so nice outside & we had great conversations & didnt have to compete with 100 other families or couples to hear or have loud music playing. It was comfortable, relaxing & I felt safe.
Other islands, I have been hesitant about walking off the resort property but we actually walked downtown a couple times (about 10 minutes) and even walked to a nearby restaurant at night and felt safe.
The iguanas and curly tailed iguanas were cool to watch & common sense people, these animals use the bathroom where they want....its their island, we are just visiting. I dont find fault in the resort for not walking around with pooper scoopers getting rid of it...however, we only saw 2 "messes" & they were removed. Also, taunting these poor animals is not cool. Yes, I did walk slowly towards one to see if it would let me touch it but didnt throw things at it, or try to capture it. And when it scurried away, I left it alone.
All in all, I loved this place! I didnt want to leave. Some describe it as a small apartment complex but I found that was one of the things I loved about it. Privacy, not a lot of people, peaceful, quiet, intimate. Relaxing!!! Just what I wanted and needed. I say great job Coral Sands...beautiful, welcoming, & a home away from home...we will definitely be back!!!! I wanted to add more photos!!!

“Great place to snokel and watch sunsets”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2010

A great 12 unit time share. If you can get in try. At Thanksgiving, 8 of the 10 guests were actually owners. By the end of your stay, you’ll get to know everyone. There usually is a pot luck dinner on Thursday nights. You don't need a car. It's a 10 minute walk to downtown, a super is across the street and many restaurants are within walking distance. The pool is very small and tends to be cold, but your 50 feet from the sea. The sand beach is small but the adjacent deck is large and there are enough chairs. You can dive or snorkel in front of the property. Actually you can swim out to the dive boats that bring out their clients. Units 1 and 12 are on the water and Units 6 and 7 have a one floor plan. Make sure to bring you water shoes as there is a lot of coral.

“OK, but not RCI Gold Crown”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2010

We made an RCI trade for a week at the Coral Sands, but my understanding is they also rent by the day or week. This is a small "resort" with 8 two-story two bedroom units and either one or two single story units over the covered parking. They also have a pool...but it is very small, more of a wading pool...OK for small children, but adults won't be able to swim in it.

Upon checking in, we are handed a "scavenger list" of the items that are supposed to be in the unit and that you will be charged for anything not there if not immediately noted. So, we go thru the list, find several missing things. Not a big deal, but sure wouldn't want to be charged for the stuff.

The two bedroom unit had one queen and one 2-twin room. And if you are as lucky as we were to get one of the two-story units closest to the parking, your view is of the wall of the staircase up to the single story unit(s) and the bedroom window looks out to(or in from) the upstairs unit patio.

The beds are comfortable enough, and they provided both regular and beach towels. Walking barefoot or in socks on the floors and we quickly realized that the tile floors aren't cleaned very well or often.

One advantage of this sort of accommodation is having a kitchen so you don't have to eat out every meal. Of course, that is when everything works. The first morning we discovered that the brand new microwave was completely dead. And after a week-long stay, it wasn't fixed by the time we left. So much for the microwavable things we bought. The hotel has free wireless internet, but I often had connectivity problems with both a PC and an iPod Touch. They use an IP telephony system, and it may be a bit complex for people not used to them (we have them at work). Since they are internet based, I find it bizarre that they charge so much for local calls (including to the best way to get a hold of the occasionally "on site" manager).

Coral Sands is on the ocean. They truck sand in to what is normally not a sandy beach. There used to be a bar or restaurant just down the shore but it is no longer there. It is within walking distance to downtown Georgetown, a grocery store and the closer end of 7-mile beach. Other than the parking of the cruise ships just off the coast, it is a nice place to watch the sunset or spend some time. The one activity is a pot luck BBQ, but we didn't attend as it conflicted with a night dive we had planned.

Speaking of diving, Ambassador Divers that the resort recommends, was very good. See my review on them and be sure to ask for Mike G. for your DM.

The best part of the place is that, since it is so small, there is a fair sense of community and you get to meet the others that are there. The employees are friendly, if not always helpful.

We have stayed a a few "Gold Crown" resorts and one thing that is common is that the units are in good shape and are resorts with amenities. Coral Sands is simply a small apartment complex, and while is good enough for a place to sleep, it shouldn't be considered an RCI "Gold Crown" resort.

If you are looking for a "resort", you probably want to look elsewhere. If you are just looking for an apartment to sleep in and a kitchen to do a little cooking, then this place is OK. My overall rating is based on the expectation that it is called a "Gold Crown Resort".
