“GREAT PLACE”

First thing first: this is the cheapest hotel on Seven Mile Beach. The grounds and the private beach are amazing. The employees are very polite and helpful. Our room is very basic but clean (we were there to Scuba and not cooped up in the room). The open-air lobby is beautiful. We were there from Nov 14 to 19, 2011, and the only complain I have (well, not really complain but more like petpeeve) is that damn crazy chicken! This chicken sounded like it was being choked or molested by the resident Iguanas. Oh, yeah, there are Iguanas on the premises...which is a plus. They're beautiful animals.
We love this place. In fact, we're going back there next week (Dec 12 to 17, 2011)...again, to Scuba.

I apologise that you did not enjoy your stay at Treasure island resort. We do have security patrolling the resort during night time hours as this sort of behavior is not acceptable. I can assure you that the Resort communal areas are cleaned by numerous cleaning staff every day. Thank you for your review and we hope for the opportunity to welcome you back

Many Thanks

“Quite disappointed”

I hurriedly reserved this room online and did not read the reviews. That was definitely my mistake, as I never would have expected any properties on Seven Mile beach to have such low standards. The washrooms in the lobby needed attention. The elevator smelled of the electrical motor. There was no hot water when taking a shower @ 4:30a. The floors had a questionable residue. I opened the night drawer and found hair & a debit card receipt. The comforter was past lumpy and should have been replaced. Moldy odor in the room. What you don’t realize is this is not a resort/hotel, it is a cheap place people rent/live long term.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of Treasure Island Resort. We regret that our Resort failed to exceed your expectations. We have replaced the lumpy duvets that you have mentioned with flat comforters. I’m sorry you experienced a moldy smell in your room, I can assure you that we have the air con and vents checked and cleaned on a regular basis and rooms checked for things like mold - unfortunately this can happen in such a humid climate when the AC is turned off. We would have been more than happy to change your room if you were unsatisfied in any way. The lobby restrooms are cleaned throughout the day from 8.30am.

At Treasure Island resort our rooms are split into long term rentals - monthly and the Resort which caters for nightly stays, the resort has hotel facilities such as housekeeping and linens etc. At the resort we cater for all types of holiday makers as we have many tourists who stay for a few months at a time. We hope that you will give us another try in the future.

“Has a mold /horrible smell in room problem”

You know, this hotel on the exterior is very nice - great pools, nice grounds, wonderful ocean access with fabulous sunset. My room is very basic- tile floors, bathroom ok, hot water/water pressure not great, furniture is ok. They have tried for the price point. Refigerator door is cracked all accross front, but nice microwave, sink, cook top, storage cabinets. The BIGGEST ISSUE is the HORRIBLE SMELL in my room.
It has to be coming from the HVAC vent or from inside the walls. If it is mold, I can't stay here again as it is a threat to your health. I hear not all room smell bad - this one is AWFUL. I would come here again due to price if my room was not stinky.

Room Tip: IF it smells funny when you walk in, ask for another room

“No 5 star but can't complain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2011

I stayed here because it was the cheapest I could find and I didn't really care about the hotel since I didn't plan on being there other than to sleep. I read a ton of bad reviews but went for it anyway and I was really pleased at how great it was. The food at the pool bar was fantastic, the boys at the lobby bar were great and the pools and beach were just perfect. The room itself was super clean, everything was in working order and I was really happy about the kitchenette because I ended up making my own food for most of my trip. The sliding door is a bit hard to open and the water pressure is pretty bad but there was nothing that made me think it wasn't worth the price. The staff were great and they knocked on my door almost every day to see if I needed anything. As for the noise, I had a pool view room and the pool bar was usually closed by 10:30 except on Saturday I think it closed at midnight. but with the doors closed and the air con on you couldn't hear a thing. The bed was a bit hard but I still slept like a baby. I am planning on going back in October. Totally worth it!

Room Tip: Pool view would probably be noisiest but my room also had a partial view of the sunset.
