Shangri-La is indeed a hidden gem offering luxury at a fraction of the cost. Located in West Bay, it's a 5 minute drive from Seven Mile Beach. You will need a rental car or use a local taxi. We chose a rental car which worked out great. George and Maureen are gracious hosts who are very attentive to your every need.
The breakfasts each morning are very good. However, they do not serve fresh orange juice. We picked some up at the Kirk market to enjoy with these otherwise wonderful breakfasts. The breakfasts consisted of a fruit platter (honeydew and cantaloupe melon, watermelon, pineapple, oranges), fried plantains, sticky toffee pudding, homemade scones, bacon, egg souffle casserole (every other day), cereal, and yogurt.
The rooms were gorgeous. Our room had a four poster bed and our bathroom had very tall ceilings and a corner jacuzzi.
Each morning we awoke to the sounds of wild roosters and exotic birds. The property has a large pond behind it which has ducks and other birds. Iguanas visit daily. Our son (with his friend from another room) had a great time chasing them and catching geckos.
