“25th Anniversary dive trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We spent 8 nights at the Cobalt Coast, on their all inclusive dive package. Arie is a wonderful general manager and proprietor! He is a hands on type of guy. He mailed a postcard for us in Hell; he purchased some soy milk for me; and one evening, he even gave us a lift into town to the more frequented bus stop so we could get to a larger dive supply store in time. We loved the layout of our room with its cozy living room area. The living room had a good size frig and extra sink. We had a great view from our window, and use of a deck area with a table and chairs near by. The meals with the all inclusive were delicious and very generous. Our favorite dish was Chicken Tika Masala.
The Dive Tech crew, (Steve, Steve, Steve, Helen, Ragime, Stephanie, Nick, Nate, Toni, Greg, Susan, Jeni, Carl, Anton, Emma, and Christian) (hope I got them all...), all worked great together to make our dive experiences memorable and safe. We appreciated being able to take advantage of their refresher course. The dive boat was well cared for with ample space. The crew was willing to work with the divers and try requested dive sites when the ocean current was safe enough. In addition, their dive profile art and sense of humor added to the positive experience. It was a great way to celebrate our 25th!

Room Tip: there is one garden view room, so if you want water view, make sure to ask. Second floor has a bett...

Dear Lori, The dive shop staff is glowing, reading about your experience with them. They truly are a great group of instructors from many different countries, like a miniature United Nations. And you noticed their concerns for your safety but in a casual way. Would have never guessed your anniversary date and I hope you will keep us on the list and we will be looking for you. Arie

“Cobalt Coast Serving Above and Beyond!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

I am a person who is very picky about customer service. This is my second stay with Cobalt Coast. They consistently give excellent service and go above and beyond my expectations.
Arie the hotel manager models excellence in all he does. He and his staff makes sure you are well taken care of. He makes sure you have a great home cooked breafast to start your day. I asked him " why don't you have a buffet line like so many other dive resorts it would be easier?"..... He replied very humbly it is my preference is to custom make what folks want and eggs always taste the best freshly made and served directly to the table! You want the perfect temperature for eggs!!!! WOW What a concept going above and beyond what is expected!!!!
Dive Tech is the diving operation they use they have such great qualified dive masters and instructors. One Dive Master Mr. Anton has published even books to help the new diver clear their ears more effectively.....even after the dive is done he would make himself available to answer any questions and conserns that I had......That meant the world to me because I have a real bad back and I am a new diver.... he gave me pointers on how to exit and enter the boat to save my back and gave extra care when I needed it! Emma the administrator of the Dive shop was always so helpful in setting up any schedule...Thumps Up Cobalt Coast....You make me beleive that EXCELLENT SERVICE is not a dieing art!

Dear Guest, I want to be careful for you not to change your mind therefore I leave it with a big thank you for sharing your experience with everyone. By the way sometimes, we do serve a breakfast buffet, especially when a lot of guests all get up early, but you have to be quick, because soon after that do we switch to serving breakfast off the menu. I really like the way you helped putting us on the map. Arie

“Service and Diving at It's Best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Just returned from a week long stay at Cobalt Coast and all I have to say is "WOW!". The resort is amazing and the staff is one of the most friendly that I have ever encountered. The owner would always make sure to say hi to us and sit down for a talk. We asked him for a restaurant recommendation and he immediately whisked us away in a cab to a beautiful restaurant with complimentary champagne waiting. The restaurant treated us like royalty which I'm sure had something to do with his phone call:) The food at the on-site restaurant was excellent and they were always happy to accommodate you. It is a little off of the beaten bath and touristy areas of 7-mile, but this is exactly what we were looking for. If you want the crowds and shopping areas, 7-mile beach was about 10-15 min. by cab.

We did 8 dives with the on-site dive company DiveTech. They staff at DiveTech was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and happy to adjust dives to the needs of the divers. By the time we left I felt like I was leaving a group of friends. We even talked to other divers and dive operators around the island who had nothing but good things to say about DiveTech. The off shore diving at the resort was amazing but pales in comparison to other dive sites around the island. The Kittiwake wreck is a must dive as well as the site called "Trinity Caves". We also dove the "West Bay Express" dive from the resort which is a scooter tour of the "mini wall" at 40-50ft depth. This was an amazing dive after you get used to the scooter, so be patient. In the 40 min. scooter dive, we toured 4 different dive sites which would have been impossible without the scooter. The waves and current on the north side of the island were a little rough at times later in the day (as we went in January), but the issue was much less at their other shore diving location "lighthouse point".

Overall this was an excellent resort that made all of us feel at home. Bring some ear plugs for the roosters in the morning though, they are all over the island so avoiding them anywhere on Grand Cayman is impossible. Can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: There is a beach but not direct access to the water due to the rocks.

Dear guest, Thanks for your great comments about your stay with us. Already made copies for the staff to read. Your feedback is wonderful boost for morale and it makes me proud of our crew. The shore diving right off the dock is indeed spectacular and it shows lots of marine life; in case you missed some of the creatures, do check the “picture gallery” at our website. Dora, our assistant manager has taken most of the pictures. Thanks too for sharing your appreciation of the dive staff. They all are experienced dive-instructors and they take your safety serious in a caring and spontaneous way, adding to your memories. I really appreciate you sharing your experience and we will be looking forward to have you visit us aging, soon. Arie

“Dreaming of returning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

This trip was our first time diving in the Caribbean and i think we went right to the top. There is a dive shop and restaurant on site, and excellent shore diving, which is free on boat diving days. The hotel staff is so friendly and helpful, it felt like we were staying with family after a short while. Although the restaurant food is very good and comparatively inexpensive, we stayed in one of the two bedroom cottages and ate some meals in. A grocery store is easy to get to via local bus service. We really enjoyed being away from the crowded tourist areas like Seven Mile Beach. The only downside are the roosters which run wild all over the island and we were sometimes woken in the early (like 3 am) morning. Dive Tech staff were informative and fun, and the crystal clear visibility and abundant underwater wildlife made every day a good one. Often there were less than 10 on our boat trips. We rented a car one day and explored the blow holes on the south side of the island and went to the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Gardens. This is a nature preserve where you can see blue iguana (only native to the Caymans) and other Cayman wildlife like the Cayman parrot and agouti. Even the plants are interesting. The famous Cayman turtle farm was a long walk from the hotel as well as the heavenly but expensive Cracked Conch restaurant. We took a cab back after dark.
I am already plotting how to get back to Cobalt Coast later this year for our summer vacation.

Room Tip: There is AC and although we often didn't need it because of the low humidity, you want to keep t...

Dear Guest, I am happy to learn that you fell in love with our Island, just as I did 17 years ago. You experienced it all, from roosters to turtles, parrots and the blue iguanas as well as a trip to the Botanic Gardens. There is so much to do in addiction to diving, that I am sure you almost ran out of time. It is great to see you make plans for your return, we all will be looking for you, soon. Arie

“One of, if not the best.”

It is rare to find a dive resort where everything comes together. Sometimes the dive operation is not quite what you wanted, sometimes the room is pretty rustic, sometimes the food is just OK. Not so at Cobalt Coast. The rooms are high ceiling, bright, open, comfortable and clean. The food was such that even when offered a $100 voucher to dine elsewhere - we stuck around and choked down the pesto encrusted snapper.... oooh that was so good. The staff and host went out of there way to accomodate - we asked about granola - it was there the next morning. And finally, the dive operation is excellent. When an obviously experienced diving couple had an equipment issue that forced us to abort a dive - fresh tanks appeared while we were down giving us our full two tank dives - handled with class. We will be back to Cobalt Coast real soon.

Room Tip: The ocean view is a great value for a couple. No need to upgrade to the OV Suite as we did.
