“A lovely family vacation”

After reading this last review I can’t help but wonder, did we stay at the same hotel? I visited Leverick Bay about a month and a half ago for Christmas vacation and I have to say that I really enjoyed my stay there. I found the room to be quite decent and the service was great. I did a bit of research before booking Leverick Bay, and in comparison to other resorts in Virgin Gorda, the price for the room was more than reasonable. It might not have been as luxurious as one might wish for on a Caribbean vacation, but I feel that for what we paid, the resort was more than adequate. Our view from the room was spectacular; plus the resort’s location is very centric and convenient for visiting other sights in Virgin Gorda. The pool is small but my kids really enjoyed it; at the same time, I could have my drinks over at the beach bar without having to worry about my kids being too far away. Although the food was quite expensive, I really liked some of their plates, especially the rack of lamb. And the nighttime entertainment was a lot of fun, especially the Michael Beans show! I would recommend this resort for any family seeking a relaxed, yet fun, activity-packed vacation.

“Great time at Leverick!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2011

My wife and I just returned from a great 5 day/4night getaway at Leverick Bay and had a fabulous time! I felt compelled to write this review because of the wildly varying reviews for this place. I think the bottom line is how to set your expectations. Rooms here run $150 per night in max high season, that includes all service and taxes. That's roughly the same as $129 per night plus tax and service. For that kind of money we weren't expecting the Taj Mahal. We were expecting a clean basic room to use as a base of operations. That's what we got, and we felt quite a bit more. The rooms while basic, had a refridge, TV ( I don't think we even turned it on!), good A/C, and a private balcony overlooking the marina out to the North Sound. You do have to climb some stairs to get to the room, that's the cost of the view. However, if you rent a car, you can park in fron of the unit to save some up and downs.
We found the staff to be excellent. Nick is as gracoius and personable host as you'll find, and the staff at the bar and restauants were friendly as well. Heck, I'm even facebook friends with one of them now! The girls at the front desk can be a bit more reserved, but very efficient at the least. The girl that met us on the dock on arrival and checked us in however, was very personable. As is true throughout the BVI, starting any conversation with a simple good afternoon and a smile, goes a long way.
This is not really a beach resort. There is a small beach adjacent to the pool and marina, but shouldn't be looked as a main drawing point. This is however, a resort and marina which actively caters to the boating crowd. We felt that added to the charm, it was a different set of characters every night at happy hour! As far as amenities, there was free wifi throughout, as well as an internet cafe, a spa, some shops, a dive operation, 2 restaurants ( 1 casual, 1 fancy), a funky and active waterfront bar, a watersports center, and a well stocked grocerette. That's alot of bang for the buck we paid!
We did rent a car and hit variuos beaches around the island. We did meet all kinds of very friendly people. We did have a blast!
If you're looking for the Four Seasons, or miles of sand in front, this isn't the place. We did feel it was perfect for what we wanted. A reasonably priced room that offered the ability to check out the North Sound, with good road access to the rest of the island. Like I said, these reviews are generally about expectations, and ours were met and exceeded. We'll be back in the future.

“It was ok, but not worth the money”

My family and I wanted to get away and looked up a place on the internet. We saw these beautiful pics from Leverick Bay Resort and we amazed, so we decided to go there. Upon arriving I was very disappointed. There was a big old Garbage disposal dump right next to reception. We arrived late and still had to wait for the room. When we finally got to the room, it was horrible. The place looked old and run down. The shower had no curtain, the freezer was packed with frost, no space to put in some stuff that I bought. The roof had cob webs. The beds were small but comfortable. The food was way too expensive and I ordered some buffalo wings which tasted like left overs from the day before. The pool is extremely small and not inviting. In the end I just felt like I was robbed and wanted my money back. Virgin Gorda is beautiful but Leverick Bay, not so much. This place is only worth $50 a night, not the ridiculous $150 per night I was charged.

“Dream vacation spot”

We spent 2 weeks at one of the villas managed by the Resort, Serendipity. Trudi of Best of BVI rentals and the Leverick Bay staff, Nick and Monica, couldn't have been more helpful. Nick drove us to the villa from the dock. The gang arranged a rental car for us. The cleaning staff were efficient and worked every day except Sunday, making sure we had a clean kitchen, clean sheets and plenty of clean towels every day. We could walk or drive to the resort proper for meals, drinks and the Michael Bean pirate show, and to buy groceries or do laundry. We were close to everything! One day, we rented a motor boat at the dock at Leverick Bay to travel around the North Sound.

“My first time in Leverick Bay!! And I loved it!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2010

I came down from Spain to vacation in the Caribbean with my sisters and friends. I booked two suites for 4 days/3 nights at Leverick Bay in Virgin Gorda, BVI’s after evaluating several options online. I learned about Levericak Bay through their website which made the process easier and made me feel secure as knew I was working directly with them (I have had experiences making international reservations with third party brokers who mess up or forget to process reservations). I arrived on a Thursday evening and the check in process went very smooth.
The hotel staff took us to our suites and gave us a brief overview of Leverick Bay and Virgin Gorda. It was fantastic to know where to go and what to do on the island. There is a bar by the main area of the resort called the Jumbies Bar, and they serve tropical drinks and poolside foods such as burgers, pizzas etc. We ate here before going back to our room and it was excellent food that made me feel at ease after a 12-hour trip. The beds were so comfortable and it was great to be able to sleep after a long trip with the tropical breeze and no noises from the city! No air conditioning on the common areas of the suites, but the air conditioner on the rooms was chilled cold, which was more than enough for us.
We chartered a sailboat called Bravura on Friday and it was lovely. We spent the entire day sailing around the area around Leverick and did some snorkeling at Peter and Normand Islands, and it was beautiful. The Dive BVI guys were super cool, organized and willing to show us the marine life of the BVI’s. We went to Salt Island and dived The Rhone, and it was impressive. It was my first shipwreck!
We were surprised to find out that on Friday Nights they have this succulent beach barbecue at Leverick for a very reasonable price ($25 all you can eat) and a Mocko Jumbies dance show which the locals explained originate from West African traditions. On Saturday and Sunday Leverick’s staff helped us organize trips to the Baths and Spanish Town (Virgin Gorda’s main town). They were extremely helpful. On Saturday we dined at The Restaurant at Leverick Bay and I have to say, it was one of the best dining experiences I ever had in 10 years of international travel experiences. We also met this couple (Nick and Monica if I remember right) that were employees at the resort who were very kind and managed to get some medicine for one of my sisters which had a headache on Saturday night – I was very thankful and impressed about how people here go the extra mile to help you out.
Leverick Bay was a perfect choice for us because we have everything we need here. The SPA was amazing; there were laundry facilities at the Marina, a grocery shop (called the Chefs’S Pantry) and a watersports office offering all sorts of marine activities. The beach at Leverick is kind of small and not that private, but relaxing enough to sit down, get tanned and enjoy sunsets. Even thou Leverick Bay is 15 minutes from the main town of Spanish Town, it didn’t matter to us as we were looking to be secluded and away from anything resembling a city. I will certainly go back to Leverick Bay and Virgin Gorda and have recommended this place to many of my friends and colleagues. Hope this review helps you make an excellent choice!
