“We'll miss Prospect Reef”

We too are owners at Prospect Reef and recently received a letter telling us that they were disbanding. It was obvious over the years that they were having problems, but I will miss the place. For all its shortcomings, it still had nice clean rooms in a beautiful setting, right on the water. I hope that they will save the place, but as of now, it doesn't look good.

“We Love it - Extremely relaxing - We love 'island time'”

We bought vacation club membership in 1999, and look forward to returning every year. Sadly, today, 4/18/05 we rec'd notice that told us that the Club coud not continue as originally conceived, and that arrangement could be made with Lambert Beach Resort throught November of this year. The rates would be comparable to our maintenance fee. Very upsetting news for us. I wish we had been informed sooner of any problems with the resort. We hope that all can be rectified.

“Has seen better days”

The Prospect Reef is not okay, but don't want to call it terrible. it is in need of total renovation. Services are now limited. The restaurant serves breakfast on a second floor open air place, which provides decent service as well as food. The rest of the day food service is on the first floor also open to the small inlet with boats docking, food is basic but not bad. We had a garden room, do not book a garden room, unless you don't mind, just a place to sleep. Its clean, bed was old basic , but not worth more than $75 per night. Very limited staff with limited servicees. No boat for the beach resort, if they have one now, but who knows that may change from day to day without letting you know. No spa, no tennis. Lovely waterfront, with relaxing views of the islands. One can see maybe 20 yrs ago it was a nice place!

“HORRIBLE”

Don't stay here. We have been all over the Caribbean and this place is terrible. It has nothing that it advertises. There's no restaurant. No spa. No ferry to Peter Island. You can't even get any ice! This place is so bad we left after 4 days and found someplace else. Thankfully, Expedia refunded the remaining 5 days that we had paid for. Stay away.

“It's the Islands Man!”

To put this review in context, my wife and I are mid-30s DINKs that travel frequently domestically and internationally, we enjoy the high life as well as camping. We stayed 1 week in Mid Sept '04. That being said, Prospect Reef is a Caribbean Island Resort, Not Maui! If you want Glitze and Shiny new, go to Hawaii. If you want the laidback feel and atitude of the Virgin Islands, Prospect Reef is a good choice. The property is not new, but our room was in excellent condition w/ AC and maintained on a daily basis with care. The second floor Kitchen/living room had a nice view of the water and a balcony allowed us to enjoy the evening breezes and sunsets. Most importantly, we never heard a peep out of the neighbors thru the walls, always a plus! The entire staff was very friendly. Cane Garden Bay, and Smugglers Cove were our favorite beaches and well worth a full days visit. That's why you are there right! We recommend The Dove, Fat Hog Bob's (Ribs at sunset) and Le Cabanon for Dinner followed by a great selection of Gelato @ La Dulce Vita! One last thing, take the ferry on the west end to White Bay on Jost van Dyke. Hammocks and drinks await at the Soggy Dollar, not to mention the idealic Caribbean beach experience.

We'll be going back!
