We just spent an evening at Propect Reef prior to flying out of Tortola. While it appeared that Prospect Reef was once a great property, it has not been well kept-up.

We paid about $110 for our room, so did not expect any luxury--simply a place to stay for a night. Even still, we were disappointed with the upkeep of the hotel.

When we checked into our hotel, we had several "quirky" challenges that depict the overall feel of the property. We got to our hotel room and the table lamp (the only light source in the room) had no lightbulb. One was delivered when we requested it.

Additionally, I followed the signs on the property for ice, but could never find it. When I asked at the front desk, they said they do not have ice. They claimed to send someone to town for ice, but it never arrived.

This appears to have once been a great property as it has an adorable layout with great potential. Now it is in need of a facelift, and some TLC. Staff was polite and helpful. I would not discourage someone from staying here, just know that Prospect should now be viewed as a no-frills, budget hotel.

My girlfriend and I were told of the Prospect Reef Resort by our travel agent. She had been there several times and enjoyed it so we figured it was worth a try. We have been to numerous islands in the Caribbean and had not been to Tortola yet.
We enjoyed the island, the people and especially the Prospect Reef Resort. The staff was attentive, the grounds impecable, the suite was beautiful with a wonderful view of the channel.
The Prospect Reef resort was so beautiful it inspired me to write a novel, The Caribbean Queen: An unexpected tropical romance, with the resort in my book based on the Prospect Reef! It was published last year and I hope it will inspire others to stay there as well!

We too are owners at Prospect Reef and recently received a letter telling us that they were disbanding. It was obvious over the years that they were having problems, but I will miss the place. For all its shortcomings, it still had nice clean rooms in a beautiful setting, right on the water. I hope that they will save the place, but as of now, it doesn't look good.

We bought vacation club membership in 1999, and look forward to returning every year. Sadly, today, 4/18/05 we rec'd notice that told us that the Club coud not continue as originally conceived, and that arrangement could be made with Lambert Beach Resort throught November of this year. The rates would be comparable to our maintenance fee. Very upsetting news for us. I wish we had been informed sooner of any problems with the resort. We hope that all can be rectified.
