Just returned from Cane Garden Bay and the Agape Cottage. We loved it! We stayed in unit J-1 and couldn't have been more pleased. It was roomy with a full kitchen, spearate bedroom, comfortable bed, good bath with good smelling towells, and a fantastic terrace for watching the sunsets.
We fully agree with all the positive comments from previous posters.
Donna is the hostess with the mostest! She gave us her special maps, advice on the best places to eat, and arranged taxis when we needed them. The fridge was stocked with first morning breakfast goodies, and even a bottle of rum!
The cottages are within easy walking distance to the beach, beach bars and restaurants, and the little store and self laundry at the bottom of the hill.
About that hill - yes, it's a little steep. We're in our sixties and in reasonably fit shape, and it wasn't a problem for us. The view made it worth it, and we appreciated the welcome additon to our excercise program. However, people with mobility issues should take this into consideration if not planning on a rental vehicle. And yes, you can hear the roosters and music from Myatts. But for us, that was part of the charm. We slept with the windows open (bedroom air conditioner not needed), and never had a problem sleeping.
We loved Myatt's On the Beach. Enjoyed several happy hours, meals, and the occasional bands that played later in the evening. All the beach restaurants were great. We went to Quito's one night for dinner and entertainment, and to The Elms once for fantastic bar-B-Que. The Mahi-Mahi fish sandwich at Callwoods was the best I've ever had. On Donna's suggestion, we visited Bananakeet on evening for a special dinner, and it was wonderful with the best view on the island.
On Donna's suggestion, we took the ferry to Jost van Dyke one day, and sailed with Steve on the Aristocat snorkel boat another day. All was great.
Every February we like to come to the Southern Caribbean and cruise in the Southern Caribbean for a couple of weeks. This year, we decided to come a week early to Tortola, stay at the Agape cottages, and then fly back to San Juan for the cruises. Our plan was to do a different island each year before our cruises. We decided that for next year our special island would be Antigua. We felt that surely we would find another place like Cane Garden Bay and the Agape Cottages. If there is, we couldn't find it. For us, it's just not there! So - we've decided to return to Tortola and the Agape Cottages next year and have already made our reservation.
