My girlfriend and I had the high pleasure of staying at La Plantation Hotel this January 2012. I would highly recommend staying here for sure! I have traveled quite a bit so I know a good spot when I stay at one. Its perfect for an island stay...the rooms are charming and clean. Its not at like staying at a hotel as the rooms are located in a separate houses. No generic feel like your would get at a Westin...La Plantation has that nice unique feel. Breakfast by their pool every morning was a true delight as it was so relaxed and a good way to start the day. The hotel is in a good location as its close to Anse Marcel where there is some awesome hiking. The staff is extremely friendly, very helpful and 100% professional. We accidentally left behind a necklace that had considerable sentimental value. The staff was on top of it. They found the necklace and returned it to us in NYC via Fedex within a few days...they responded to all of my messages within a few hours for updates.

We would stay here again!

Totally outdated. Peeled paint, disgusting bathroom caulking, broken toilet etc.
Room is big but that's about it.
Mosquitos galore... I put on spray and close the mosquito net, but still.
The light on the porch was on all night while the curtain doesn't block the light out.
I can swear there is sand in the bed.
It just feels old and dirty. I wasn't comfortable at all.

Only good thing about this hotel is the staff. They are really friendly and helpful. Other than that... urg. I will not recommend this to anyone.

Stayed for a week during Jan., 12, with total of 6 people (3 rooms). Included breakfast was very good but was the same each day. Staff very friendly. Rooms are spacious, clean and have a niece porch/patio.It should be noted that not all rooms have king beds. Chairs and umbrellas are included at Orient beach. Believe that a car is needed on island even to get to the beach - watch out for supplement insurance charge. Food is expensive on the island but mostly very good. Don't bother with Pinel Island (ferry is $7) as there are numerous excellent and free beaches.

This villa-like hotel is close to orient beach and very well maintained. Clean, LARGE rooms and comfy beds. Rooms include free bkfst wich was lighter than what we were used to so plan accordingly. Nice pool and wi-fi in the lobby. Will surely go back.
