“Great Staff and Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

We stayed for four nights over christmas at the hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is located up some steep inclines so make sure you have a car that can handle it. My beatup Hertz rental was fine.

The hotel has an arrangement with the La Domain resort on the Anse Marcel beach where you can use the facilities (pool, restaurant, beach chairs and umbrellas). The Anse Marcel beach is one of the nicest beaches in St Martin.

The hotel is pretty but the bathrooms and rooms need some improvement and maintenance and the beds (at least our bed) was extremely hard.

“Great View and Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011

We booked a room at the Marquis on Expedia after we arrived at the pit of a resort that we booked through RCI. We booked a "Great View" room but, when we arrived we were told none were available. I thought here we go again but it was immediately followe with "so we're giving you our best suite at no extra charge." The Marquis is high on a mountain high above Anse Marcel and the view is absolutely breath taking. Our suite had a large living area and extremely large bedroom, each with full sliding glass doors and balconies over looking Anse Marcel. The room was nicely furnished and very nice but could have used some touch ups here and there. The service was excellent and the staff was very helpful and attentive and was very helpful to us in planning our vacation. A wonderful continental breakfast is included, either by the pool or in the room at your choice. The pool area is nice but quite small but you have use of a larger pool and private beach if you choose to make the rather adventurous journey down to the beach. It takes about 5 minutes to drive down (a shuttle is also available) and you park about a two minute walk from the beach. The Marquis does not have a restaurant but excellent quality room service at fairly reasonable prices is available. The shops and restaurants of Grand Case are about a ten minute drive away (if you can find parking). If you are looking for a beach front place in the thick of things, the Marquis is not for you. But if you want seclusion, excellent service, and a breath taking view, this is the place.

“Perfect little hotel nestled in the hills.”

We love this place. Yes, it is out of the way and you MUST have a rental car but it is so relaxing and the staff is awesome. We came on a group deal so paid like half price and the staff still upgraded us to a beautiful room. Breakfast on the terrace is wonderful and the views atop Pigeon Hill in Ance Marcel are amazing. Keep in mind you will have to drive to beaches but after taking a full drive around the island today that is all you do in St Martin. But there is a great little beach down the (steep!) hill you can have a nice swim and use the chairs and the hotel gives you a ride. If we come back to St Martin we will 100% stay here again.

I repeat though, RENT A CAR from the airport. The local places are SUPER cheap. One of the other guests got a nice new Kia for $11/day + insurance.

“Tranquil Retreat with Stunning Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

The Marquis is perched on a hillside and offers truly spectacular views of Anguilla and the bay below. Surrounded by lush vegetation the hotel is small and tranquil. Breakfast is taken on a terrace and comprises ripe fruits and fresh croissants, bread and pain au chocolat. Not surpising as this is the French side of the island.

Room service is excellent. For dining there is the option of taking a taxi to one of the many choices on the island. The alternate voice is to be driven down by the shuttle to the bay below where two hotels offer their restaurants. It is possible to charge these to the room using the Marquis's card which also provides the access to the private secluded beach.

The members of staff are more than helpful. The room we had was large, well air-conditioned and with a huge bath. All in all a beautiful place to stay.

“A wonderfull boutique hotel in a paradise called St-Maarten”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2011

When we decided to spend our summer holiday in St-Maarten, we didn't know what to expect. Once we arrived, we immediately realized that we where probably on one of the most beautiful islands of the Carribean. Everything was perfect, the colors, the atmosphere, and also the climate which treated us very well with 8 days of sun out of 10. Of course the perfect holiday needs the perfect hotel and this was what we where hoping for when we booked the Marquis  hotel after reading a lot of positive reviews on tripadvisor.
We spent 10 days in this small and beautiful boutique hotel and felt very close to living in paradise. It is located on one of the best sides of the island (French) and being on top of a hill, surrounded by nature, it offers a stunning view on the ocean and on Anguilla. The atmosphere was relaxing, colorful and very friendly and made us feel immediately at home. It was simply perfect and our way of thanking tripadvisor for helping us to discover this little paradise, is to write our own review, hoping to inspire other people...
