Having visited St. Lucia 3 times previously (our previous stays were at Jalousie), I had both high hopes & expectations for our Christmas 2009 through New Years 2010 stay at La Bagatelle. Beyond Christmas break, our trip was a very special occasion, my wife & I were celebrating our 20th anniversary...with teenage children along. While this may sound less than romantic, both the design and spaciousness of Bagatelle allows for everyone to be together - or apart , as much as they want. If you want to spend your vacation in a serene, picture perfect "Postcard" setting, La Bagatelle is likely what you're searching for on St. Lucia (...or the entire Caribbean). Thank you Nancy, for a wonderful stay & memories our family will treasure until we return to Bagatelle, or your neighboring property Tamarind House, should our family (hopefully someday) get bigger.

We came back from La Bagatelle two weeks before Christman, and even with all the parties going around us, our mind is still on top of the hill, admiring the ocean and the magnificient Pitons! My husband and I have spent a week in this wonderful villa with two friends of ours. The first thing we've said when we came in, was '' WOW ! '' With a local music in background and after a quick visit with the charming owner, I have add... '' This house has a soul... exactly what we were looking for! ''
Of course, this house as the most beautiful view you could find, but it is also a place where the time stops and make you feel good in a refined atmospher, decorated with beautiful antiques, painting and gorgeous flowers everywhere!
Valinda and Felice are wonderful... we really appreciated their amazing food, their nice attention and their smile!

The Villa sits on top of a mountain side with spectacular views of the Pitons and water. Stepping out of the cab, was stepping into a visual fantasy of colors and scent. The Villa is behind an engaging wooden front door that is part of a privacy wall. You step down terra cotta steps to the first floor with an open living room, lounging four poster bed with flowing sheer curtain bed. pool and a fully equipped kitchen that home made ice cream in the freezer. The first floor is open and a HUGE living space. The service of cook, when requested, was a treat for our taste buds. The second floor, which is under first has two huge open bedrooms and bath. This Villa has everything you could possibly need .
A GREAT FANTASY of a Villa to rest your head and play.

Wow, what can one say about a place with a view as magnificent as that at La Bagatelle. We chose Bagatelle for our honeymoon destination with great expectations and they were met, if not exceeded. We had the privacy we desired, yet service was never far. Valinda, the maid/cook, was extremely helpful, eager to please and very gracious. She was very conscience to give us our privacy and also to be helpful with whatever we needed. She was great in helping us arrange a ride on a boat up to Castries one day. And got us hooked on homemade ice cream.

We spent a great deal of time seeing the sites, but also a lot of time relaxing. The view from the villa is beautiful. We loved the pool-hammock-daybed “tour” throughout our stay. Also, a must while staying at Bagatelle is a massage on the deck or pool side (your choice). Nights were…interesting. We weren’t used to no air-conditioning and no “windows” but it really didn't turn out to be much of an issue for us.

We did not rent a car and found that getting around was not too difficult. PoPo did our airport transfers and drove us on our day trip to the Diamond Falls, Volcano and Piton Falls. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. We used Cletus, a/k/a Fat Man (as called by the locals) for some of the other taxi-ing around. We would walk down and ride up! Our favorite restaurant was the Hummingbird. Excellent!!!!! A must if you go to St. Lucia.

Our host was wonderful. Never interfering or invading our space or our privacy. But always friendly, helpful and just a call away. In fact, we fell in love with her art! Beautiful.

All in all, we had a wonderful trip. If you tend to miss some of the modern conveniences, i.e. TV, then you might bring a portable DVD w/ movies. As Bagatelle does not have a TV or VCR or DVD. We brought a DVD player and I think we only watched 3 movies and we stayed for 7 days. So, there’s plenty to do, enjoy, see and experience. The villa does have a radio, books and game cabinet.

I would highly recommend Bagatelle. It is breathtaking. The people were very helpful and friendly. A perfect destination for a honeymoon or just for those seeking unspoiled beauty.
