“This is not a four star Hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2009

If you are vegetarian or have children this is NOT the hotel for you. The food is very poor and although they have a childrens club the evening meal for them is poor. If they want to live on hot dogs if will be fine for them. The main meals and salad bar are not up to standard for a four star hotel. The hotel is in wonderful grounds. The pools are never cleaned properly and the toilets near the restaurant are nearly always blocked and not kept serviced as they should be.
Arrival is very well organised but our room was up a steep walk and the toilet didn't flush and the shower didn't work, no TV hand set was in the room. It took four days to get these things put right and my partner in the end sorted the shower out after the men left. They will come almost immediately to sort out any problems but they leave without it being done properly. It was only when I filled in a customer Satisfaction Form stating I would put these things on the internet that we got the offer of a seaview room and a bottle of red wine was put in the room with a letter of apology. We did not take this up as it was not worth moving room for two days and half days.

We visited this Hotel some nine years ago when it was a three star hotel and Almond have made some excellent changes but with regard to what I would call essential basic requirements they have failed dreadfully.

I will be going to Almond in Barbados in September I hope it is better organised and cleaner than St.Lucia, although listening to others I am not so sure..

I have many holidays during the year and feel my comments are fair I have never put any bad comments on the internet before. We did not let this spoil our holiday and we enjoyed the time we spent there and never went hungry. The staff are very helpful.

Recently returned from ASC st.lucia. Wot ever problembs ASC had in the past are not there now.We had a fantastic honeymoon the staff couldnt do enough for you, food was great at the restraunts apart from the cove in the evening which could do with more choice. Cafe endis was our favourtie which was adults only ,we had our special honeymoon meal there the staff looked after us so good. The resort is so clean with well maintained gardens. We stayed in deluxe garden view, the bedroom was great with a massive bed but needed the bathroom updating, but you dont go there just to sit in it all day, but haveing said that it was clean. The pool bar became our new home, well shud i say my husbands ha ha.Entertainment at night was a bit dull but if you just want a totally chilled out holiday then this is the place to be..good water sports annd good relaxing beach. We had a fantastic relaxing honeymoon missing it already. P.S. if your honeymooners take copy of wedding certificate and ask for lorna.

“Smugglers Cove Resort St. Lucia”

We just returned from our 10 day stay at Smugglers Cove Resort St. Lucia and had a wonderful time. We have never been to St. Lucia and were scheduled to go to Mexico but changed our reservations due to the flu outbreak and they say things happen for a reason, well now I believe it. Last minute change was worth it. We had rain and sun and welcomed both. The staff treated us like Kings and Queens! We are planning our next trip back we enjoyed it so much and our son will be joining us. We did hear some Europeans talk badly about Americans but we just ignored them as it was only a few bad people. The islanders cannot do enough for you....

“NOT 4*”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2008

Overall I cannot believe this hotel is rated 4*. The accomodation is very poor. We went along with 2 children and feel that we were duped by the brochure. we paid approximately £8000, and this was definitely way too much. We were told the whole hotel had been reburbished, which was totally untrue! The bathrooms were disgusting and were not even 2*. The food was good for breakfast and lunch, but the evening meals were disastrous. The service all day was very poor. They were very short staffed.

Virtually everybody in the hotel was complaining. It was advertised as 5 restaurants and only 3 were in action. Some people had no hot water for 7 days, we had no AC for about 11 days. Overall would never go there again or to any other almond resort. The year before last we went to the Dominican Republic and stayed at the Iberostar chain of hotels they were absolutely amazing!

Regards Taz.

“loved the food”

We stayed at Smugglers Cove for 10 days at the end of September and had a fantastic time. We'd read the recent reviews on the hotel and were sceptical but decided to see for ourselves. The hotel wasnt full and there were plenty of sunbeds and 4 pools to choose from as well as the beach. The food was great and so was the service in the 4 restaurants. All the staff were pleasant and friendly especially Andy one of the barmen who claimed it was always 'happy hour'. Although the hotel had problems earlier in the year just after they opened there certainly wasnt any sign of this now and my only wish was that we stayed for longer.
