We had a week at the Landings. What a place! We have been all over the Caribbean, and are very discriminating, usually staying in places like the Ritz Carlton in Grand Cayman and similar places.
The villas are over -the top fantastic, huge, and modern. The beach was great, manicured, uncrowded, plenty of lounges and umbrellas, more than enough for everyone,no need to go running early to get a spot. The pools were really nice, and totally devoid of people.
The Beach Bar Restaurant is really good, actually surprisingly good since some of the reviews were not good. The only bad meal we had there was a once a week barbecue on the beach. While the setting was nice, it was not well controller, food ran out, pickings were slim. All other meals there were really good.
We also had a fancy meal at the Palm Restaurant on property, which was very good, service was upscale and the food was tasty.
Off premises, there were some good restaurants, including LaTerasse, The Cliffs, an Buzz. By FAR, LTerasse was the best, actually exceptional, and this is coming from a family that doesn't go to many restaurants that aren't highly rated by Zagat. You have got to try LaTerasse, what a find!
Plenty to do on this island including Volcano tour, Rainforest, Pidgeon Island tour, Jet Skiing, etc., etc.
More importantly, the people of St. Lucia are really genuinely nice people. They get it! They understand that tourism is what makes the economy of St Lucia tick, and they do a great job, making you feel liked, safe, and happy.
The Landings is a real shlep from the airport. The Landings is on the Northern most part of the Island, while the airport is on the Southern most part. Figure at least 1 and a half hour drive through a mountain, rainforest, very winding roads. I would not attempt to do this yourself in a rented car. Instead, splurge for $180 each way and have the Landings arrange an Escalade to pick you up and drive you safely to and from the airport.
Financially, we had an unbelievable deal there as well. If you have a need for 3 bedrooms on a vacation, you can spend $2500 per night in the Caribbean at an upscale place. We paid a little less than five thousand dollars for a seven day stay!
The villas are really upscale. Our terrace in the rear faced the marina, with massive yachts and a beautiful water view. We were 100 steps to the beach from our front door.
Would I go back? Definitely with the full family, for sure, but if it were only my spouse and myself next time, I would probably go to a more intimate resort, because there would not be a need for so much space.
Go to their website. The pictures are legitimately accurate and do the place justice.
Just one thing... There were tiny, tiny ants on the kitchen granite countertop. We called and housekeeping/ maintenance attempted to spray a couple of times, but it did not seem to do much harm to the ants.
Room Tip: We had room 602, centrally located, I would take this room again.
