“Laid-back beauty”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We had no idea when we signed up for this place that it would be so beautiful, even though it's not finished. The resort is separated from Sandels by a causeway that allows a lot of boats to anchor in the resort. Great, non-threatening beach, great for all, including kids.
Lots of Brits were there, but they're really ok! They put up with Americans!
No sales presentations at all, but you can buy a 3 bedroom for something like 1.2 million USD.
Rates were high, but we got a 3 bedroom suite that we split. Beautiful sunsets! Nice people. Good on site resturant. Yes, they do have a nicely equiped kitchen that you can cook in---buy you groceries at Rodney Bay. Easy cab drive (or walk) to Rodney Bay (they provide a free shuttle 3-4 times a day).

Room Tip: Full ocean view is nice, but the view from the inner harbor was also great.

“Gorgeous Resort”

We stayed at a week at The Landings and it was the best beach vacation we have ever had. The resort was immaculate and the beach was incredible. Everything was pristine. The staff went out of their way to make us feel like welcome guests. The fitness center and spa were top notch. It was definitely on the quiet side but that was what we were there for.

Room Tip: Splurge for ocean view . . . . it is worth it.

“The Landings is Fab”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

We had a week at the Landings. What a place! We have been all over the Caribbean, and are very discriminating, usually staying in places like the Ritz Carlton in Grand Cayman and similar places.

The villas are over -the top fantastic, huge, and modern. The beach was great, manicured, uncrowded, plenty of lounges and umbrellas, more than enough for everyone,no need to go running early to get a spot. The pools were really nice, and totally devoid of people.

The Beach Bar Restaurant is really good, actually surprisingly good since some of the reviews were not good. The only bad meal we had there was a once a week barbecue on the beach. While the setting was nice, it was not well controller, food ran out, pickings were slim. All other meals there were really good.

We also had a fancy meal at the Palm Restaurant on property, which was very good, service was upscale and the food was tasty.

Off premises, there were some good restaurants, including LaTerasse, The Cliffs, an Buzz. By FAR, LTerasse was the best, actually exceptional, and this is coming from a family that doesn't go to many restaurants that aren't highly rated by Zagat. You have got to try LaTerasse, what a find!

Plenty to do on this island including Volcano tour, Rainforest, Pidgeon Island tour, Jet Skiing, etc., etc.

More importantly, the people of St. Lucia are really genuinely nice people. They get it! They understand that tourism is what makes the economy of St Lucia tick, and they do a great job, making you feel liked, safe, and happy.

The Landings is a real shlep from the airport. The Landings is on the Northern most part of the Island, while the airport is on the Southern most part. Figure at least 1 and a half hour drive through a mountain, rainforest, very winding roads. I would not attempt to do this yourself in a rented car. Instead, splurge for $180 each way and have the Landings arrange an Escalade to pick you up and drive you safely to and from the airport.

Financially, we had an unbelievable deal there as well. If you have a need for 3 bedrooms on a vacation, you can spend $2500 per night in the Caribbean at an upscale place. We paid a little less than five thousand dollars for a seven day stay!

The villas are really upscale. Our terrace in the rear faced the marina, with massive yachts and a beautiful water view. We were 100 steps to the beach from our front door.

Would I go back? Definitely with the full family, for sure, but if it were only my spouse and myself next time, I would probably go to a more intimate resort, because there would not be a need for so much space.

Go to their website. The pictures are legitimately accurate and do the place justice.

Just one thing... There were tiny, tiny ants on the kitchen granite countertop. We called and housekeeping/ maintenance attempted to spray a couple of times, but it did not seem to do much harm to the ants.

Room Tip: We had room 602, centrally located, I would take this room again.

“Disappointing catering”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

We have never complained at a hotel in the W.Indies, having been there every year in January for over thirty years.

Wonderful resort accommodation and nice beach, but as located "out on a limb" they should provide more shuttles than 3 a day to Rodney Bay. Expensive to go there by taxi twice a day for food as the catering at The Landings was very poor. Not the fault of the staff, they just have no direction and poorly trained in the kitchens. American size portions of sub-standard food don't go down well with well travelled visitors. The Beach cafe takes anything from 40 mins to well over an hour (in our case) to deliver any food

The Palms restaurant had only one other table occupied and we found out why! The unfortunate staff had to put up with our opinions, but the general manager said he had had no other complaints, when we tackled him about it. Not true, they have had complants. So easy to put right. Just employ good cooks and plenty of them. We travelled there from The Inn at English Harbour - they should send staff there to see how to do it!

“Renewal of vows at The Landings”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

I had the most amazing experience at the Landings for my renewal of vows ceremony...the service was fantastic, professional, prompt and exactly what I was looking for. Our ceremony was on the beach at sunset with a wonderful local officiant, and the meal following it was literally five star, including a cake, wine and champagne. I highly highly recommend the location and also the staff, especially Angella Torille, who was warm, attentive, efficient and listened to all my requests with patience and grace. A very emotional and moving experience that my husband, son and I will treasure.
