“Deeply disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We stayed here for a week in early January & were very disappointed by the hotel. It isn't really a hotel but rather self catering apartments & villas. We went expecting a 4+ star hotel & found a housing estate.

On the first day our room was not serviced until 5pm despite me asking at 3.30 for it to be done as soon as possible. The standard of cleaning after this was high but this is unacceptable.
The room had two shower rooms but no bath and only tepid water. The maintenance man who came to fix the hot water when we'd discovered that there was none told us that we could either have a firm pressure of water or heat. We managed to get a bearable compromise in one shower but not the other.

Breakfast was risible. An appallingly limited selection of food and no decent pastries. To add insult to injury when I went to buy water from the on site shop I was offered beautiful plump pastries to buy. If they are available to buy on site I think they should be offered to those who have already paid for their breakfast. It leaves a firm impression of the hotel trying to save money & cut corners.

Overall the food was very poor with limited choice & pretty terrible quality. This is particularly true of the pool side bar which served the soggiest chips that I have ever come across.

The beach is pretty but very windy & not very pleasant to spend extended periods of time on.

On a positive note the resort was quiet, the bed comfortable and the room a generous size. Some staff were excellent and very helpful, some noticeably less so.

We had some excellent meals away from the hotel, the Buzz, The Edge & Spinakers Are well worth visiting.

It is expensive to get to Rodney Bay in a cab but well worth it both for day trips to the beach & for dinner.

This hotel would suit a family where having self catering facilities is the most important factor but if you are looking for luxury, look elsewhere.

“Perfect Family Resort”

Visited Cotton Bay with friends in Jan/Feb 2012. Due to be in 2 x 2 bed apartments but upgraded to a 4 bed villa on arrival which was perfect. Lovely pool area ideal for kids and adults and Juan in the kids club allowed us to relax happy in the knowledge that the kids were having fun. The only downside is the lack of restaurant options if you are looking for an all inclusive resort and the 1.5 hour airport transfer.

“Wonderful vacaion in St. Lucia”

We stayed at Cotton Bay Village 1/28 thru 2/4 and could not have enjoyed ourselves more. We are a couple in our 50's who wanted something other than the typical all inclusive experience. If you appreciate calm, quiet luxury than you'll be very happy here. If you want in your face servers, loud people and late night entertainment - go elsewhere. We loved our apt and were so happy that it was next to the pool. We had some concerns but the landscaping makes everything so private! We made use of our balconies for coffee and breakfast in the am and late night star watching each evening before bed. We tried all of the resturants including ordering lunch through the pool bar and found the food to be delicious and the service to be extremely friendly. A shoutout to Solange and her beautiful smile and David with his great attitude and suggestion to go to Buzz on Wednesday night for a fabulous dinner with a saxaphone player. The beach was fabulous for walking, exploring and watching the kite surfers but not so much for swimming as there was alot of kelp while we were there. MY FAVORITE PART was the massage and the sea salt scrub that my husband and I had. I wanted to pack Lucy and Joyce in my suitcase and bring them home with me. Take advantage of their wonderful spa throughout your stay. I can't comment on the children's services but all of the parents seemed to be very relaxed. TIPS: Take a quick trip by taxi to Rodney Bay to stock your fridge for the week. The casino was very nice. Do the land and sea tour. Take the helicopter from the main airport to get you closer to Cotton Bay. My husband really enjoyed the golf course. If you want to try SNUBA, you can do it off of the beach at Pigeon Point. The Piton Beer is good. The rum is STRONG!!! Piano, Piano is kinda 'stuffy' for our taste. ENJOY!

“Luxury villas and resort great for famalies”

We had a fantastic holiday as a family (with an 18 month old toddler) in January 2012. There are so many good things we could say about the villa, resort, staff and beach. Everything is catered for and it made travelling with a young child very easy, i.e. good speed wifi included, cot and high-chair supplied for free in the villa, free kids club, free meals in the beach restaurant for under 5s, great service from the staff, well-stocked supermarket on site, fantastic shallow kids pool for under 3s, lovely main pool, good sized splash pool in the villa, sunbeds at the villa, air con in the villa...etc. While the caribbean coast (west side of St Lucia) has slightly calmer sea and more turquoise water, the beach itself was pretty and had a lot to offer including horse riding. St Lucia is a beautiful island and we highly recommend Cotton Bay Resort where we hope to holiday again next year.

Room Tip: No bad locations / rooms from what we saw.

“Disappointing and deceptive”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Cotton Bay Village is described as a 'luxury experience'. It is nothing of the sort. The facilities are poor and the service is either absent entirely or slow and absent-minded when staff is around. There is no service on the beach. The beach restaurant is a wooden structure that would not look out of place in a youth hostel and the food and service are commensurately bland and uninspired. In addition to ourselves, many of the guests were complaining that the resort does not live up to the image it seeks to portray online. The resort is also plagued by sand flies that leave clients with 50 or more bites in a day. Make sure you know what you're getting into. We would have left if we had been able to find another resort able to accommodate us.

Thank you for your review.

As discussed we are disappointed that we did not meet your expectations and do not agree that our website is deceptive. We believe that our online presents reflects a true representation of Cotton Bay Village.
However, we offered, and you accepted a substantial adjustment to your bill as a gesture of goodwill. Unfortunately from your review it appears that this was not enough.

Sincerely,
Michael - General Manager
