Marigot Bay claims to be the most beautiful bay in the Caribbean – I don’t now as I haven’t seen many others but arriving at sunset with the sun shining into the bay it truly is spectacular. I’m not sure I’d want to be based in the bay as it is narrow and rather claustrophobic but the hillside has spectacular views over this, out to sea and, if you’re at the top to the magnificent bay to the south.
This is the view of Summerbreeze - hard to get too (the road is in poor state) but when you get there, you don’t want to leave. The owners are an exceptionally friendly couple – as are their dogs if not the cats - and they provide a wholesome breakfast – with two Caribbean rarities, fresh juice and coffee from a cafetiere.
There’s a great pool and you can dine in one of he restaurants in the bay – own wheels really are needed –most taxis won’t come up here and the one that does is expensive and to be avoided for longer trips – a disappointing note in what is otherwise a superbly idyllic location.
