very beautiful, very tranquil location: limitless green over the hills and far away the Atlantic crashing against rocks in Praslin bay, on the undeveloped east coast of St Lucia. The hotel is wonderful: Esther is helpfulness itself, making calls and arrangements so that you have the kind of time you want. The restaurant has a very varied menu, lobster to pasta to Creole, locals and guests mingle on the verandah. the pool is big and the rooms are simple and clean. Best would be to hire the top floor of the apartment block, which is gorgeous. There is nothing between you and nature here: go hiking to the waterfall, through the rainforest, or gallop over deserted beaches with Max from Atlantic Shore stables. Visit the lesser known town of Vieux Fort, or the Reef bar and restaurant on the beach to watch the wind and kite surfers do their expert stuff, near where Atlantic and Caribbean meet. There are some beautiful small towns and beaches nearby too. But hire a car...

The Fox Grove Inn is the idyllic accommodation to experience St. Lucia without feeling like a tourist. Located in the south east of the island, It is conveniently far from the hustle of the resorts. The Fox Grove serves as the perfect jumping off point to explore St. Lucia and get a true sense of the natural richness the island still has to offer. The east coast currently remains largely untouched by mass-tourism and some of the negative effects that it can bring. the Fox Grove Inn is situated just a very short car (or Jitney) ride away from many of St. Lucia's most naturally beautiful sites.Within the vicinity are waterfalls, Rain Forests, and numerous other naturally beautiful sites.

Though the Fox Grove Inn is not on the beach, nearby beaches are easily accessible by a fairly short walk on foot.. Located on the hillside, the hotel property overlooks the Atlantic and the views from the restaurant patio/room balconies are absolutely phenomenal. The surrounding area is plentiful with fruit trees which seem to always have an abundance of fresh, tropical fruit.

After spending the day actively exploring or whatever you decide to do in St. Lucia, it is always great to know that an excellent meal awaits. The restaurant at The Fox Grove is simply outstanding. Often freshly prepared by hand by the owner Franz. It is even common for locals, including other hotel/restaurant owners to spend dinner there.

The rooms are clean and very comfortable. In the front of the hotel views are spectacular. The staff consists of some of the kindest people i have met and above all, the owners, Franz and Esther truly go out of their way to extend their hospitality.Their genuine friendliness keeps the Fox Grove Inn relaxing and an easy place to call home for the duration of a stay in St. Lucia.-

We stayed in February 2010 for a second week with friends on half board and had a great time.We had spent the first week in self catering accomodation in Marigot Bay The food was excllenet value and the owners Esther and Franz were very welcoming. The pool was a joy and was more than adequate for the size of hotel. Esther arranged a taxi trip to a guided tour of the rain forest with Linus the driver adding his own guidance on the way, also taking in Latile falls on the return.
There is a botanical garden a short walk away and th coast is about a 20 minute walk.
A relaxing location away from the tourist traps, with abundant flora and fauna.

We wanted a self-catering holiday away from the hustle of the main resorts and close to the rain forest and more "authentic" areas of the island. Fox Grove Inn was a great choice. We could cook for ourselves - fish from the market and fruit from the road-side stands - or eat in the excellent and not over-priced restaurant. Everyone was very friendly. This part of St Lucia is a huge contrast to the areas around the big resorts where you are continually asked for money. You should rent a car if you plan to stay here, and expect to do quite a bit of driving if you want to see the main tourist attractions such as the volcano - but there is plenty to do in the area. Particular attractions are the Mamiku Gardens (walking distance of the hotel), and the beaches by the airport (20 minutes drive). The town of Dennary is also worth exploring. The small hotel is clean, with a stunning view of the ocean in the distance. Lovely flowers and a nice pool. Good for families.
