We stayed in the one bedroom apartment for a week in September 2011. David and Gill were very welcoming and extremely helpful. The apartment was very well finished and comfortable. The little garden at the back was a nice spot to relax with a book. The walk back up was fairly steep but helped by icecream from the lady in the blue painted rum shop at the bottom of the hill. Laborie was a good base for seeing things around the southern end of the island. We used the local buses to travel around and found them easy to use and cheap. There are a number of restaurants serving local food. We would recommend the apartment and Laborie if you want to see more than the usual tourist places.

We spent 10 nights at Gill and David's Bayview apartment and were absolutely happy with everything. First of all, the apartment itself is quite spacious with a nice sized kitchen including all amenities. The terrace is off of the main bedroom and has an unobstructed view overlooking Laborie and the bay. The apartment is clean and there is an absence of cockroaches and mice which was not the case in our first place (but is however quite normal for tropical locations). Furthermore, the price is reasonable. Gill and David are the owners and live upstairs, however your privacy is not diminished in anyway. Having said that, the two of them are very sweet and helpful and are full of information. We also had a problem with our rental car and they quickly arranged for a local mechanic to come to the house, the car was repaired and we saved quite a lot of money. Kind of a nice easy-going neighbourly feeling.
What is more, Laborie is probably the nicest village in all of St. Lucia. At least in our opinion. We found the north to be too full of tourists and all inclusive resorts. Laborie is not at all a "touristy" place, but absolutely clean and very quaint. The locals are so incredibly nice and we actually found Gill and David's thanks to one of the locals who walked with us up the hill to introduce us. There are a few little bars and restaurants in the town, a very nice beach and clean water. In the evenings you have the sounds of crickets, chickens and country music emminating from the town. Laborie is not far from from Vieux Fort, where you can kite surf, do some banking, buy major groceries etc. We definitely recommend this location!

I would recommend to anyone who prefers to be off the beaten track to stay in this beautiful village. Our apartment was spacious and clean. Our hosts were gracious and accomodating. Everything was delightful. Our only regret was that we had to leave too soon.

We stayed at these apartments with our 2 children in Jan 08. They are run by a friendly English couple who made us very welcome. The apartments are well finished and have a fab view over the bay. They are on a fairly steep bank, hence the view.

The couple were well known by the locals and they made us feel very welcome.

There is a nice beach and reef at the other side of the bay, and a number of rums-hop you shoudl experience.

I would recommend that if you have a chance to stay in the more rural south, take it, as we enjoyed it a lot more than our week in Rodney Bay.
