“Lovely Location on St. Jean Bay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 June 2010

Located on beautiful St. Jean bay on the side nearer the airport and Gustavia, these cottages are supremely located. And don't let the location by the airport fool you, you WANT to be on this bay, which is one of the most beautiful and swimmer friendly on the island. On the other side of this beach/bay are the fabulous Eden Rock Hotel and trendy Nikki Beach Restaurant.

There are 4 cottages on the beach and several on the hillside above. The cottages are very private and comfortable. The bedroom upstairs has a nice king-sized bed and roomy closet although why you would bring alot of clothes here escapes me. The bathroom is older with no bidet and just a shower but it's more than adequate. The water is non-potable but this is for most of the island since they depend mainly on cisterns.

Downstairs has a small kitchen with a full size refridgerator. The sitting area has two lounging couches. There is only a DVD player. No TV. They charge 20E for internet access but it's very weak and slow. Honestly we didn't miss the tv since after lunch, dinner, drinking, sun tanning, shopping, and swimming we usually fell asleep early anyway.

The salt water pool on the premises is heated. They give you a basket of coissants and bread for breakfast but that's it. You are on your own the rest of the day.

We've been going to St. Barths for over 20 years off and on and staying at different hotels. There are certainly ritzier places and there are ritzier places on yucky beaches. Les Ilets de la plage is where I'll be next year (Lord willing).

“Charming!”

We just came back after a charming stay at Le Ilets. We love the peaceful atmosphere (Les Ilets is tucked away not too far from the airport). Our cottage on top of the hill gave a nice glimpse of the beach, the place itself is nicely done and well maintained. Ana and then Bill passed by while we were there, so unfortuately the beach was not much to enjoy. We went instead to the one at Nikki Beach (which also was not as calm as we know it be be). There's no problem anyway since it takes no time to get to somewhere on the island. We like the fresh croissants & coffee in the morning (croissants are brought to you, coffee by the pool). We love having the well-equipped cottage to ourselves so that when we want, we can just sit outside enjoying our meals bought from Maya's to go or other places. Our ferry back to St. Martin was cancelled (becauses of the storm), Carine from the reception office made a few phone calls and sent us to see a travel agency at the last minute. We flown out the next day and now that we have done it, I don't think we can ever go back to taking Voyager. Our only regret: the trip was too short.

This was not our first time to St. Barth but it was our first with Les Ilets. While we enjoyed our previous stays very much, Le Ilets would be on top of our list the next time we come back.

“Great place to stay - service AND accommodation excellent”

We have a one year old daughter and stayed at Les Ilets at the end of April. We stayed in a lovely 1 br w/ kitchenette. The staff was incredibly helpful (crib, high chair were no issue at all). The place is very nice - simple and cozy, but well-done. Not cookie cutter chain hotel, but also well-kept and not neglected in any way. I imagine you could find other places just as nice in the same price-point. BUT, the service, exemplified but the babysitting arranged for us, set it apart as a family-oriented gem. Mimi (who helps with cleaning there) made herself available for afternoons, evenings, whatever. The proprietor (Karen, sp?) helped us get in touch with her. She could not have been sweeter with our daughter, had excellent judgement and was incredibly flexible. We had a very relaxing trip as a result. Many other instances of "no problem" type of attitude from the staff - very low-key and relaxing. Would highly recommend this place for families.

“Peace and relaxation”

My friend and I booked this small villa style hotel in St Barths and we loved the experience.
With the dollar value we foun d that staying at this villa type hotel the fact that we could go to the shops and buy all our produce and also have the convenience of a reception and maid staff to help with any queries and reservation was the best of both world..
There was not much bach due to high tides but the water was right in front of our villa and the seclusion and privacy was ideal for some well earned R & R..

“Secluded and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 May 2008

We stayed here the first night of our week-long vacation. Our villa was charming and well-equipped. The kitchen was great for staying in and cooking, the bathroom was roomy, and good toiletries and lots of towels were provided. Decor was stylish and furniture was high-quality and in generally good shape. The only clearly outdated part of the villa was the tile in the kitchwen and bath (very mid-80's). The bed was very comfortable. The villa was very open to the outdoors--there was even a warning to store food properly or else local feral cats would come in to dine. The villa was surrounded by foliage and felt very secluded. It did get a little warm becasue the ocean breezes didn't come our way. Coffee was available at the pool and three rolls were left in our room in the morning. The pool area was very modern and stylish and the pool itself seemed nice, but we never used it. The beach was about a one-minute trek down the stairs, past the pool and across the road. The beach itself was a thin stretch of white sand near the airport, so planes were taking off all day long starting at 7:30 or so. Since the planes are small prop planes, they're not that loud--but be aware. The proprietor was efficient. No shuttle from airport; the taxi ride (which takes about three minutes) costs a ridiculous 10 Euros. No dining opportunities at the hotel. There are a few places along the beach, about 10-15 minutes away by foot. All in all, a pleasant stay. Like everything in St. Bart's, extremely expensive.
