My wife and I have vacationed at the Filao Beach for the past five years and love this hotel. Unfortunately we now understand that the property will merge with the Eden Rock Hotel next door when they close for remodeling in March of 2004. We were so sorry to hear this. The Filao Beach has always been the perfect place for us. It's reasonable prices and location on the beach at St. Jean Bay, next to the Eden Rock, was perfect. We could enjoy lunch overlooking the beach at hotel, next door at the Eden Rock or at the new Nikki Beach Resturaunt.
However, our favorite lunch was to walk down to La Rotiserrie and pick-up some delicious and reasonably priced chicken curry or lobster tails and enjoy them with a nice French white wine on the beach. We loved to relax on the beach with a good book and watch the small planes take-off from the airport. At night we could walk to the shops and resturaunts in St. Jean or make the short drive into Gustavia. Good Bye Hotel Filao Beach - we will miss you.
