After a 7 Day Cruise in the caribean, we stood on the beautifull Island St. Barth. And we had
the Luck to stay in one of Jean-Phillipes Cottages. Here we meet wonderfull People and had
every morning a 2 hour (min) talk at the Breakfast Table with them and Jean-Phillipe. We like it and we will be coming back. The Place of the Cottages are near to the Best Beaches on St. Barth, Salines and Goveneur Beach. We still waiting to the end of this Year to get back there.

It's a great property close to Salines Beach, which in my opinion is one of the best in St Barts.
The room (we stayed in Pavones) is clean and very nicely decorated.
Location is a little hidden. Took us a little time to figure out where is where, but you definitely avoid the touristy crowds.
Some reviews complained about mosquitos, but we never had any problem (didn't even need to use bug spray that I brought).
Small cons include: thin wall, too-simple breakfast (croissant and coffee basically), no fridge.

All in all, Salines Garden is a great place and very reasonable rate. I will definitely go back.

We have found our island in the Caribbean and it is St. Barths. WE have been here 6 times in the last 10 years and hope to make it a yearly event. The people are very nice, shop owners courteous and helpful. The restaurants and food superb and what can be said about the beaches except unforgettable. We love the family oriented feel of the island (our 7 year old loves St. Barths and quickly made friends with everybody...not only children but all the restaurant owners were his "best friends").
Best of all is the Salines Garden Cottages. And the owners Jean-Phillipe and his wife Laurence. Their hotel is an gem hidden near the Salines Beach. You drive along a small pot-holed road, arrive at the gate and enter an area of sublime peace and tranquility. The cottages are well appointed with exquisite furniture from Bali, beautiful linen and large beautiful bathrooms. I suggest getting the rooms equipped with a kitchen. Not that you will use it much except for lunches and snacks, but it is nice to have a fridge for the wine, cheeses and pates.
Jean-Phillipe is a great personality. His stories can keep you entertained for hours and what he has accomplished since arriving from France is a tribute to his work ethic and exquisite taste. He is proud of the Salines Gardens (and should be). His wife Laurence is just as delightful as is their son Hugo. I consider them (as I hope they consider us) as friends. We have previously stayed at several 5 star hotels in St. Barths. But we enjoy our little cottage near the beach, the communal breakfast in the morning, and Jean-Phillipes stories over a glass of wine in the evening. This is what life is about...we are going back this year. PS Jean-Phillipe knows everybody...with one phone call he was able to find my lost 800$ Nikon.

We spent 6 beautiful days and nights on St. Barths. I was really impressed so I decided to share our experience. I think that Salines Garden is perfect from all aspects. First of all - the location. If you'll try to find this place on the map, you'll think that its quite far from everywhere. But in the reality the location is the best on the island, why? - because generally the cottages located in the middle of the island, so you can get to any place or beach in 10 / 15 min by car. Despite the island is really small you definitely will need the car. In this case as I sad you can reach any place on the island in 10/15 min. Cottages located about 3 min drive from one of the best beaches on the island - Salines beach. I guess you could walk there for about 15 min, but we never tried. Another perfect beach - Gouverner - is about 7 min drive from the place. So two most amazing beaches - Gouverner and Salines - are really close to the place. All other beaches a little "too civilized" - I mean you will be on the beach and just 2 meters from you restaurants and hotels. And some other beaches mostly good for divers, but if you really just want to relax and swim then Salines and Gouverner is the best. Second thing -around cottages you could find several good restaurants, which are not really expensive (in comparison with some restaurants in St. Jean). The cottages itself - we found them very convenient, clean and designed quite well. The condition was working fine. We had the cottage with kitchen , so it was very good for us - we could have some small lunch ourselves. The owners - Jean-Philippe and Laurence - they were really nice, friendly and helpful. If we had any requests they were always happy to help us - explained about the island, gave us good advises about the beaches or restaurants. We were slightly burned, so they offered an umbrella , I even did not ask them. Every morning it was very interesting to have a breakfast. Because we had some interesting conversations with Jean-Philippe or with other guests. We always could share our experience all together. Jean-Philippe is really good guy, he was always telling some stories about celebs visiting the island. And finally - the price. At least on the moment when I was trying to book some place on the island the prices were just enormous. We stayed there from 8 till 14 of JAN 2012. But the price we payed for Salines Garden was really reasonable and acceptable. So one more time to summarize - I thing the Salines Garden cottages is the best place to stay on St. Barths. If we will visit the island again I will for sure go to Salines Garden.
