“nice hotel but in a remote location ( pic are better than my experience)”

I recently stayed at Isle De France while the room was lovely I wasn't blown away, and the ants in the bathroom didn't help. Overall the property is located in a residential area and isn't within walking distance to anything. The staff appears to be friendly but I felt their friendliness was phoniness.

The beach was nice however their is no beach service and the food at the hotel restaurant isn't great. Overall, would I stay here again? probably not. Its a nice hotel for those looking to stay at the property but not enjoy the local nightlife scene. Even if you rent a car who wants to drive down pitch black dark roads at night after a night of partying or even a few glasses of wine. While cab service is available for about $50 USD round trip which we did on a few occasions, even though we had a rental car. I would rather stay in St Jean or Gustavia closer to restaurants, shops, and nightlife. If you want a vacation where you stay at the hotel in a remote area away from everything other than the other hotel guests then I would say this place is for you.

“Beautiful resort!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

We didn't actually stay here but we ate at their restaurant 3 times and saw 2 rooms ; talked to the reception desk people, walked the facility and talked to several people staying there- I would stay here in a heartbeat! Absolutely beautiful resort- VERY clean and manicured and the people working it were all very nice and helpful.

“Disappointment.”

They might have sharpened up the last year since their revues are so good lately.
We stayed two weeks, two different garden villas with pool. The villas was great, very nice decorated. The main building with restaurant, pool area, pool restaurant was so very nice!
This was the good parts.
What killed the experience was the unprofessional staff, in our opinion mostly french slackers that wanted some time in the sun. No skills for a fine restaurant, arrogant and some not even with basic skills in the english language!

“As Good as Advertised!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

This hotel gets rave reviews, and it should. There is nothing about it that doesn't contribute to a top-end experience! From the breakfast buffet each morning, to the breathtaking view of Flammands Bay, to the spacious rooms, to the most helpful staff, this is about as good as it gets.

If you want a nit-pick, it's that the work-out room is awfully paltry. But that's the only thing to which we could not give the highest grade.

We did a 7-night package that included all kinds of extra's (free rental car, massages, meals, etc). If you can get away that long, we highly recommend it!

Tip: There is a very small, neighborhood grocery about 200 yards down the street from the hotel. Rather than going into Gustavia or some of the other over-priced stores around the island, buy your in-room incidentals there. It's got just about everything you need - other than an extensive wine rack. And, the prices are awesome!

Tip: Eden Rock restaurants aren't great, and are overpriced. Try the Strand.
