“ok for the money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

My wife and I stayed in one of the higher end rooms with a nice view. Breakfast came with the room and it was huge and the staff in the restaurant was very nice.
We had to wait until past 3:00 for our room and the German gal Susan is either very nice or very rude depending on the day. One night three men staying in the room next to us played very loud music until past midnight. I went to the bar to ask the manager to ask the guys to turn down the music, they did. They then went out on their boucaany and talked very loud and very vulgar unhtil past 1:00 no sleep for us that night. We spoke to Frau Susan the next day at the front desk and her comment was they don't have any control over who their customer are. Back in Maine a guy smoking in a non smoking room was escourted out at 11:30 by the police. The next day my wife toppled over on one of their black rocking lounge chairs and scored a nasty black& blue on her arm. Two of the chairs were broken and caused the chair to fall over when she sat down. Again Frau Susan had little concern that my wife got beat up by a chair.

Room Tip: The higher price rooms are worth the extra money if your neighbors are quiet

“The place to stay when you're on Saba”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

If you are looking for 5-star comfort, you probably won't go to Saba. This island is for the adventurous: you visit to dive or hike (unless you attend the medical school). Scout's place offers clean, well-appointed comfort at a reasonable price and the pictures you see on their website are exactly what you'll get, unlike other boutique hotels I've booked. For this self-proclaimed aging tomboy, it was the perfect place to unwind after a full day of incredible scuba diving. The check in and check out was a smooth experience and quicker than one expects in the Caribbean. The customers appeared to be mostly from Europe, couples and singles, and I did not see any children during my stay which was fine with me. The restaurant and bar provided prompt and courteous service and dinner was great (I had the curry chicken). Continental breakfast was included with the room and it was more bountiful than one would expect: more than I could eat before a dive. Overall, I had a pleasant and comfortable visit and my expectations were exceeded. If I return to Saba again, I will stay at Scout's place.

Room Tip: Room 5 on the end of the block was quiet after I figured out how to close the bathroom window, which...

“great sushi”

My husband and I just went to Scouts Place on Wednesday night for Sushi and we were very impressed. The Sushi was great!! The presentation was beautiful. The Sushi was served on a little Japanese bridge. Great Job Wolfgang!! I always have a good time when we go to Scouts. We also always get great reviews when we recommend faculty to stay at the hotel.
Keep up the good work…

“Best Place on Saba”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

Just returned from our first trip to Saba and our stay at Scout's Place was outstanding. Our room had a spectacular view of the Caribbean, framed by the dramatic mountainside and was thoughtfully equipped with coffee and fridge. The restaurant and bar serves great food from early morning til late night. The hotel and restaurant staff were war and friendly. The dive masters were great. We were so impressed we booked our room for next year before we had even checked out!

Room Tip: From what I saw, every room has a great view.

The people at Scouts are the best - they know what it is to be good hosts -the rooms are beautiful w/ great views, warm tones, coffee and fridge - the restaurant is good for all meals. The location in Windwardside is lovely in the hills and this island is a truly unique gem unlike any other place in the Caribbean- must be seen to be believed- oh- and the dive staff is enthusiastic and competent so all around a great place to go !

Room Tip: They are all fine with good views
