“Wonderful Club Med Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011

My 19th CM trip and 2nd to the Martinique club. The club renovations are nice, our room had a king size bed, couch, tv, safe, and nicely done bathroom with 2 sinks. Probably 90% French guests, We met only 1 other group of Americans. But there were English speaking Canadians and Europeans along with many of the GO's so it wasn't too difficult to have conversations with some others. The lack of Americans is probably due to the lack of airline service from the States. Expect taxi to cost 70-75 Euros each way. Set the price with the driver.
The bar area was fun (Stella Artois on tap), with snacks available. The shows at night were fine, but mostly only in French. Excursions were fine. Housekeeping and front desk attentive. Our activities were just lounging on the beach enjoying the beautiful scenery. We found the local staff to be friendly.
The food: Everyone has an opinion, but to me this was some of the best Club Med food ever! The dining rooms had tables of 2,4,8. I did notice how there wasn't someone to seat you at a table as I had experienced at other Clubs. One of the great things enjoyed at CM is meeting other people, and the dining room is always a good place for this. Maybe they can bring back the seaters again especially for single people.
Club Med to me is summer camp for adults, and I love it. If you like to meet people from around the world give it a try.

“waterski what a team”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

We were there to rest, to play volley ball to do some fitness, but first of all to enjoy waterski and scuba diving. The main problem was to find the time to do everything. Our trip was fantastic. The main reasons for the success were

->the great team of GEO and specially the water ski team with the Boss Philippe, the skater Remy, the "Belge" Juju, the charming Frank, the teacher Dimitri and the last but not the least Mister fun Julien.
-> Diversity of activity
-> The professional team of scuba diver with Michel Team and Virginie
-> The wonderful place, accomodation, the welcome and the professionalism of the Reception

Thanks again to Philippe and his team to try to keep the legendary fun of the Buccaneer's creek club med alive

Room Tip: ask the suite it is maybe a little bit more expensive but a big improvement

“Wonderful experience”

The GOs were enthusiastic, friendly and always helpful. People at the resort were friendly and quick to say "bonjour." The staff worked hard to keep the area nice and food/drinks flowing. I will say for individuals like myself who don't speak French, it's a little difficult at times, but the people you ask for assistance usually speak enough english or find you someone who does who can help (even the guests will help). Also, don't expect drinks to taste the way they do in the states, lots more fresh fruit (so expect more tartness) and a lot stronger! You need to stay at least 7 days because I only stayed 4 days and I could only go on one excursion because everything was booked or I wouldn't be there on the next available day (the same goes for the spa). But between the group classes, water activities, and the beach (which is AMAZING, the endless water and mountains are breathtaking), you can fill your time. But to feel like you are getting your money's worth, take advantage of every included activity and/or, drink all day! The food is good, but I wish there were more days of creole food (which I think when they did serve it, it wasn't as flavorful as I would expect it to be). There are so many options, that even have french fries everyday wasn't too bad because I had some variety to go with it. Note that this resort is very open to nature, so if you don't like birds on the rafters in the buffet area or seeing a few cats around the dining area that sits on the beach, don't look up and sit inside in the Air Conditioned room (plus watch out for a stray crab on the side walks at night). The room was comfortable (a lot larger than I expected after visiting Paris this summer and staying in a small hotel room) with a iron, mini fridge, and great shower. As far as the taxi trip to/from the airport, Club Med will tell you it's 75 euros but I paid 100 euros each time. October was a perfect travel time because it was the perfect amount of heat and breeze, the water is cool, and it didn't feel like an overcrowded resort that you may find in the summer months (but it is the end of hurricane season, so it's a toss up). Overall, I loved it, wanted to stay longer, and will try to go back.

Location & accomodations are very good, clean and very family oriented.
As always the GO's are great and friendly. Local staff was a bit grumpy.
Diving facilty is adequate, staff is great and diving locations are top of the world.
Especially beach activities are nice and it's staff is very helpfull and relaxed.

“Not comparable to other "4 stars" Club Med's”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

Upon arrival, and despite the natural beauty of the nature, you get an overall feeling of cheap infrastructure and maintenance work. The ambiance is quite poor also, probably due to the very small GO team. But the worst surprise is by far the food quality (if still realistic to speak about quality)...you would not expect any company to serve 3$ meals to their employees with so poor experience. It appears that specifically in this Club Med, the food is prepared by the site owner (not by Club Med), which here again probably explains the unbelievable result....Too bad for Club Med not having the choice....but shame on them to publish this location as "4 star" category. Should be 3 star, not to say 2.
