“A quiet place away from the city”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

I am not sure what the Imperatrice Village is doing in the Fort de France section of hotels in Martinique.
To avoid disappointing travellers looking for a hotel in the city, it should be pointed out that the Imperatrice Village is a vacation complex in the town of Trois-Ilets. It is not too far away from the Anse Mitan quarter of Trois-Ilets from where one might catch a ferry to Fort de France (approximately 30 minutes, no services in the evening). Alternatively it's about an hour's drive from Fort de France, depending on the density of traffic jams.
To resume, the Imperatrice Village is a nice place to spend a quiet holiday away from everything, if you want to stay in Fort de France for pleasure or business, choose a hotel in or near the city.

“Good money value compared to others”

If you are a tourist L'Imperatrice Village is a good accommodation. We stayed there for 5 nights and had some good night sleeps. Yes, it isn't the most beautiful accommodation but it has everything you need. The accommodations are spread out through the Village and there are 3 studio's under one roof. There is a little beach but it's not really worth lying there the whole day. Best is to rent a car for the whole period of your stay as everything is driving distance. Breakfast is very simple so if you want more than simple you best check into the most expensive hotel on the island.

Before coming to Martinique I've spend hours even days trying to find a nice accommodation that isn't too expensive. L'Imperatrice is perfect for that. The studio's do need a bit of paint and repairing but I do believe we all just sleep there and tour around the island every day. There are beautiful beaches everywhere. And while driving around the island I noticed that many accommodations don't look as nice as this one.

The owner is very friendly, doesn't speak much english but with a smile everything is possible. Do keep in mind, while being there during a local holiday it can get very busy with local families. Our first 2 nights were very quiet, and afterwards it became very busy but they all are friendly offering us local foods.

The accommodation is about 15 min walk to Point du Bout, which is a very nice town. There are some shops and restaurants at the Creole Village and a nice marina. However like I wrote before. It's best to rent a car.

Overal, we had a good time there. Just don't expect the world and everything should be fine. We had cottage 138, one of the closest to the beach. (with gorgeous sunset)

“Terrible Terrible Service”

By no choice of mine, I had to over night in martinique and so I stayed at the L'Imperatrice Hotel, which cost me 117Euro, almost EC$500. Upon arrival, there was no one at the Lobby to accept us. There were about three people moving back and forth carrying stuff from the elevator to an area that seem like a small restaurant or something. No one said a word. After standing there for a few minutes, I asked a young man who was going back and forth; where is the receptionist. He said that he is making cocktails and will be with me in a while. After a good 30 or so minutes, a man came wearing an apron looking like a barman. Any way other that the fact that he could not speak english, He was very impatient because he had to get back to making his cocktails.

Anyway after paying for the room, we went up to our utter surprise the room for such a ridiculous price was so so small. There was hadly any room to move around, Plus the toilet seat was broken, there was no iron available. There are no provisions for pluging your laptop and besides, what would be the point, since there was no internet available. To top this off, though the reservations were made for two, there was only one set of towels. There was no place in the shower to rest the soap, you hav to put it on the tiles in the base of the bath room. The bed sheets had stains all over. How unsanitary.

Since we had no choice, and it was just for a night, we made do. Next morning, when we got to the lobby, we apparently was suppose to be given a basic breakfast that no one bothered to tell us about when we checked in. So it was already too late for that. But what concerned us was the attire of the man serving two white people . He was in a shabby looking shorts, a vest and a worn out slippers. This was so unbelievable. That even made my opinion of this hotel worse.

I certainly would never stay at this hotel again, nor would I recommend it to someoneelse.

“Lovely peaceful resort near lively tourist centre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2007

We booked two nights at the Imperatrice Village conscious that there had not been a TripAdvisor report since 2004. It more than lived up to our expectations, and we extended to 9 nights. Several airy bungalows cleverly designed in flowering gardens so that patios do not overlook each other provide self catering accomodation, though the kitchen equipment is fairly basic. A good pool and lovely small private beach provide on-site exercise, and breakfast, lunch and drinks are available either by the pool or in a shady beach-side bar. Lots of flowers and birds. Quiet, clean, non-pretentious, this will suit those looking for good value and peace. A short 10-minute walk takes one to a lively tourist centre with long beach where there is a huge range of eating possibilities, and a regular 20-min ferry across the bay to the capital Fort de France. However, a car is recommended and beware of lack of clear directions from Trois Ilets - check your map carefully beforhand!

“Nice, quiet, small Resort, but near tourist spots”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2004

I have been to Martinique in March 2004 for 2 weeks and stayed at
L'Imperatrice Village near Point de Bout (Trois Ilets).
L'Imperatrice Village is a two star hotel, it's simple, but the price is reasonable (€ 40 - 80 per day) and the surrounding is really nice. But if you decide to stay at L'Imperatrice Village I would recommend to rent a car, because it's a little bit off the track and the street leading to the resort is not well lighted.
The ferry to Fort-de-France is a 10 min walk away and to Point de Bout it's a 30 min walk.
It has 60 rooms in wooden, creole style, bungalows. 4 rooms built 1 bungalow. Each room has a bathroom with toilette and shower,
a small kitchenette with a big fridge and possibilty to cook, climatisation
and telephone, and a terrace with chairs and a table. The room has been cleaned everyday. Bungalows are situated in a nice garden. You can see humming birds. The resort has it's own small beach,
1 restaurant and 1 cocktail bar, and a swimming pool.
Breakfast is typically french, will say you get croissant, marmelade butter, coffee, tea, juice and fresh fruits, a little ham and cheese.
Breakfast time is from 7:00 am to 9:00 am!!!!
They offer only room, B&B or HB.
The staff was very nice, but I have to say I speak french which makes everything easier.
I really enjoyed staying at L'Imperatrice Village, because it's a quiet place, but if you like to have more life around, Point de Bout is near with it's restaurants, hotels, shops, bars and everything you need.
