“wonderful hosts; quiet and humble palce to stay”

Found Wild Palms on the Internet. It was one of very few who were willing to book for one night only. Because we were so late in planning however, we were unable to get a rental car, which is the gospel when traveling to Vieques. Paul, the owner of Wild Palms, offered to pick us up at the airport. He was there just as we landed, and turned out to be an interesting and very generous guy who, to fund his semi-retirement, rents out rooms at his own home.

Our room was very, very simple, but quiet and clean. Had a separate entrance w/ a sturdy lock, screened windows, two comfortable beds, and a small kitchenette. No drills, but certainly satisfactory. Paul knew we had kids so decided to capture one of the many wild iguanas roaming the island in advance of our arrival, so that our kids could see it up close. They really appreciated it (although wanted to know the poor lizard would be released, which Paul promised). He also has turtles and chickens (and roosters that serve as unwelcome alarm clocks; but that's not his fault!).

We went solely to experience the bio-luminescent bay, and Paul was even kind enough to drop us at their pick up point, on the other side of the island (his daughter owns to boat company that takes you to the bay!). Later that night, when our taxi never showed. Paul got out o bed and came and fetched us! He said the road construction and gas shortage were making traversing the island a nightmare for many, so it was extra kind of him to help us out so much.

This is not a place to stay for long periods; there's little to do and without a car, it's not that near the beach, but it's perfectly fine for any budget traveler looking for an at home experience.

“Great people, fantastic stay”

Have I said great people ? well it is worth repeating again. I needed an overnight stay on a budget . I sent an email out through enchanted isle and found Wild Palms.
The rooms were super clean.

I came in completely unorganized - not knowing where the biobay tours were or how to get to them from hotel. The owners were nice enough to call in for a local shuttle - cabbies were not operating that day because of christmas.

This is the first review I am ever writing for any hotel - so it speaks volumes on my experience itself.

One minor issue is that the shower water was not very hot - luke warm at best but can see past that - I am sure they will fix it sometime soon.

“Great Choice for a Family with Kids”

We just returned from our Wonderful week and a day vacation on Vieques. We stayed at WildPalm,s for 5 nights and enjoyed every minute. There were 6 of us, 2 adults and 4 children, ages ranged from 6 to 12. We stayed in the 1 bedroom studio and were glad we did. Plenty of space to move around in, especially with 4 little ones running around. AC in both rooms, 1 and a half bathrooms, which were great to have and very clean and well stocked. We also loved the fact that when we were back at WildPalms that the children were able to roam around the property and we had no worries. The proporty is fenced in and set way back off the main road. They had internet access which my husband and kids enjoyed the use of. Down side, too small of a fridge for 6, only a 2 burner electric stove. The rooms were very clean when we arrived and plenty of towels. Paul and Lucy were great hosts and made us feel like family. They picked us up at the ferry dock and had our rental delived to their guest house. Thank you again for adding to our wonderful time on Vieques. We also loved the Foutain and pond.

P.S. We will see you next year.

With Love Gloria M.

“Would definitely stay here again”

My friend and I traveled together to Vieques, and Paul and Lucy were amazing! Paul picked us up at the ferry that night, took us back to his place so we could drop off our belongings, and then drove us back to town so we could eat dinner. He waited at the bar while we ate, and then took us by a small mini-mart so we could buy groceries for the time we would be there. It was nice to be able to pick up breakfast materials instead of worrying about having to get into town for food. His guest house had a kitchenette, so it worked out perfectly. The grounds were beautiful, too. We spent some time hanging out in the garden drinking, writing in our journals, etc. He also has free wifi, which didn't apply to us, but was a nice feature for those interested. The next day, we were going on a snorkeling tour (Abe's - it was great), and he told us to just let him know when we wanted to go into town, and he would drive us. What a nice guy! At the end of our day, we tried to get a publico (taxi), with no luck, so Paul came and got us. We ended up tipping him for going above and beyond, and he tried to say no, but we wouldn't let him. He gave us so much information about the place, made us feel safe and welcome, and made sure we had a great time during our visit. I have a friend who's going to Puerto Rico in a few months, and I am going to make sure she stays at Paul and Lucy's if she plans a trip to Vieques. I will definitely go there again if given the chance. Awesome!
One more thing about the room - the main room had windows, which was nice, but the bedroom did not. This allowed us to sleep in soundly, which we needed after the long trip. We did see a few creepy crawlies, but nothing out of the ordinary. Like I said, we'd go back again for sure.

“Clean Comfy Modern Studios with Great Owners”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 February 2010

We enjoyed are stay at Wildpalms Guest House the first time we vacationed on this wonderful island that we choose to stay here again for a week. The owners are great people and take pride in their Guest House.

The studio (blue room) we stayed in had a full size bed, a very thick comfortable futon sofa for other seating option, a kitchenette with coffee pot, microwave, small fridge, 2 burner stove and all you need to prepare breakfast, lunch, or even a small dinner if you choose too.

Very spacious shower with great water pressure. Everything in the studio was clean and almost like new. The gardens are very nice, colorful and well maintained. Again, we had use of beach chairs, cooler, beach towels (we forgot ours) and snorkle masks. Its a quiet place to come back to after long days on the beach.

Thanks Paul and Lucy for being such great host.
