“Loved it!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

The Tropical Guest House was great. The room was a good price, it was very clean and the rooms were spacious. There was new packets of soap, clean towels and sheets, cold air conditioning and a working TV. There was a bar downstairs (complimentary drink when we got in) and the staff was amazing. They helped us in getting places to eat and gave us suggestions for what to do. The best customer service we've had in a while. They were available at all times and helped with the irresponsible taxi services (not picking us up after 2 hours of waiting) in getting us to where we had to go. Overall it was an amazing experience and we're planning to stay there every time we go. :D :D :D :D :D

Hi,the customer service was good but the room we got was not....Air conditioner didnt work and tried to fix it but knobs we missing, beds were alittle hard.Fuse blew in bathroom while taking a shower so water and lights turned off,and the view out side window was a vacant house with trash, the thing that bothered me most were the cockroaches,,,,ugg. But again it was clean and personnel were polite.

It's a great place to stay if your traveling on a budget. Rooms are clean and the service is excellent. They'll help you make the reservations to go and visit the Bio Bay, they'll put you in contact with trusted taxi drivers that can be available for you around the clock and I you need any other help regarding any other important issue they'll be more than welcome to help you.

“Clean rooms, great staff”

I'll preface this by saying this is a bare bones hotel/guest house. Don't expect to get the frills and updated features of a fancy hotel. But this is also Vieques- you're on a rather modest/poor island with wild ponies running around. It's a gorgeous island, not yet destroyed by large hotels, so keep in mind that you're going to be facing modest living arrangements; unless you go stay at the W hotel for $400/night. Maria and Joe, the owners, greeted us upon check-in, provided insider advice on the best kept secret beaches, made us coffee, and were very hospitable. You don't come to Vieques for the hotel, you come for the beaches- so keep that in mind. The place is bare bones, like I said, but it's clean, safe, reasonably priced, and with great staff. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're coming as a couple for a romantic getaway, but it's a good place to stay if you're coming by yourself or with a couple of friends.

“So Bad it Was Funny”

This Guest House was BAD!! The people who ran it was very nice and met us there to check in. The windows had plastic over them so you could not get fresh air. It rained the night we stayed and we woke up to a soaked bed because water ran in from the hole in the ceiling where the light fixture was. Water actually ran down the light bulb before hitting us. The bed was hard as a rock with paper thin pillows. There was no one else in the Guest House so it was really creepy since it was in a housing neighborhood. I would suggest if you visit this beautiful island do not stay here.

I am truly sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay at the Tropical Guest House. We take pride in making our guests feel at home. We have been experiencing heavy rain, hurricanes, tropical storms etc., more than usual for our hurricane season. Measures will be taken to assure that this won't happen again. Thanks again for your review, and coming to our beautiful island of Vieques.
