My girlfriend and I spent 5 nights at Villa Coral and it was just about as perfect as a stay on Vieques could be. The building is very nice and the room was spacious and clean, complete with a mini fridge and coffee machine (both of which we made a lot of use of). The terrace was really nice to sit out on in the morning, with plenty of comfortable chairs, a hammock, board games and free wifi. The massive roof deck was great for looking at the stars that we don't really get to see at home in Brooklyn. And then of course, there were the hostesses, Mireya & Annette. They were so kind and helpful, making some great recommendations for restaurants and beaches on the island. They even drove by us one night walking back from the Malecón (the promenade in Esperanza) and gave us a ride back to the house (they live only a couple blocks away). For three of our five nights there we rented a car, which was great to drive to the various beaches out of walking distance (Orchid was our favorite for laying around, Navio and Red Beach our favorites for swimming, and Green Beach had some amazing reefs for snorkeling) and restaurants (like Next Course - delicious). However, for the two days we didn't have a car there was still plenty to do within walking distance of Villa Coral– Sun Bay, Black Sand Beach, the Bio bay tours, restaurants, etc. It's only about a 8-10 minute walk down ti the Malecón and a 20-30 minute walk to Sun Bay (not our favorite beach on the island, but still, it's the Caribbean so can't really complain). If you're planning on making the trip to Vieques (which you should soon, because it's only a matter of time before it really blows up and becomes a top, crowded Caribbean destination) I can't more highly recommend Villa Coral.
One last thing– I rated sleep quality 4 instead of 5 because if those annoying roosters (which seem to be all over the island). Not really the fault of Villa Coral, of course, but nonetheless woke me up a little earlier than I would have liked.
