My girlfriend and I stayed at Villa Gallega for a week in May and we loved every minute of our time there. The house is located on a quiet hilltop (away from the sounds of the many crowing roosters of Vieques) and the house, the grounds, and the views are all beautiful! Pictures just cannot do it justice. We stayed in the studio on the lower level, and were lucky to have the grounds to ourselves, being that no one was staying upstairs in the main house. We made a lot of use of the infinity pool and the jacuzzi and the outdoor shower. The studio itself is simply, tastefully done and the king-size bed is very comfortable. There was plenty of towels, coolers, and chairs to take with us to the beach and there is an electronic safe in the room.
If you've ever been to Vieques, you probably know that all the best beaches are accessed by wildlife preserve beach roads, so no matter what you will have a drive to the beach. Villa Gallega is located in the middle of the island, a bit closer to Isabel Segunda than Esperanza and the area is lush and peaceful... and a short drive to the beaches. I would much prefer staying in this location than in Isabel Segunda or Esperanza, which can be loud, and the former, a bit seedy.
If you are big on cooking while on vacation, however, you might be better to rent the main house upstairs, or seek somewhere else to stay, as the studio only has a dorm-room sized fridge, a microwave, and a coffee-maker. Outside there is a grill and a sink.
Joey, the property manager is absolutely warm, wonderful, and helpful.
We will definitely be back... next time, hopefully with friends to rent the house upstairs (Joey let us have a tour before we left and it is INCREDIBLE).
