La posada was exactly what we needed. It's an adorable little inn in the town Esperanza. It was walking distance from the main street in town and the beaches, and since we didn't rent a car this was perfect. Lisa is a sweetheart! She told us about all the best places to see on the island. Our room had an AC that was necessary at night since it was soo hot. Clean bathroom and shower, and there was a patio outside our room. I thought the bed was very comfortable but my boyfriend suggested pillow tops.. Free coffee in the morning was great and there was a wonderful bakery right down the street. I would recommend renting a jeep if you plan on going to vieques since the best beaches are a bit of a drive from Esperanza. We would absolutely stay here again! It was a great deal. :)

Nice place to stay at, perfect location so you can walk to main tourist area

My husband talked me into visiting Vieques for a day so he could see it and know if he ever wanted to stay for an extended vacation. We ended up booking here because most hotels on the island will not let you stay less than 3 nights. Lisa who runs the inn is a true gem-she made us feel at home and gives great advise on where to eat, beaches, tours, or anything we would ask her. The rooms are dorm like but clean. She also owns the Esperanza Inn. If we stay for a week we will try that out next time. Enjoyed our short little stay.

This place was a pleasant and not-so-pleasant experience.

Pleasant because it reminded me of the simplicity of life. After all the glitz you see at 5 star hotels, you might actually like this local ambiance. For example, the call of Roosters will awake you in the morning. It is 50% like staying at local person's home and 50% like a single floor local college dorm. The bedsheets were clean, and the room was extremely local and simplistic in decor, and tidy.

The unpleasant parts:
--- The bathroom was poorly designed with poor fittings, and the soap/shampoo were of cheap quality.
--- There are lots of mosquitoes inside the room, so be prepared for that.

What to do nearby? Well try some local food, walk along the beaches, and take the biobay tour. The beaches are not good enough for snorkelling. For snorkelling go to St Thomas and St John islands instead.
