This is the kind of hotel we seek out, but don't often find: well located, comfortable, small, charming, colorful, friendly and reasonably priced. Humberto was very welcoming. Yes, on Friday night, the street side rooms were noisy. The desk offers earplugs if you need them or suggests a room on the quiet side of the building.

This is an old hotel with good updates in the rooms. The balcony room we had was large, with high ceilings and nice furnishings. The staff were friendly and helpful, and as others have said, the breakfast is pretty skimpy.

The complaints about noise are valid, too. The nearby bar has a thumping bass until about 3 a.m., although that's not what kept me awake; instead, the car and foot traffic until 3 a.m. was the problem, with shouts and singing, as well as loud car stereos. It was all manageable with earplugs, though, so definitely bring them. (And this isn't the fault of the hotel.)

Ponce is a really lovely little city, but many things were closed the weekend we were there, especially restaurants. We ended up eating in the Ramada our first night--not our first choice, but it was that or Burger King or Church's; everything else was closed on a Friday night. We had similar problems with breakfast and lunch all weekend.

We stayed there two nights ago, what a beautiful little hotel! The staff was very friendly too. Breakfast was very simplecontinental breakfast, but it got us the coffee we needed to get going which is what we cared about anyway...! Turns out we got the very last room left (they were sold out) and it was a comfortable, big, spacious room... with a nice balcony to the street: the noise went on until past 4am. Way too nosiy and did not get a good sleep at all. My parents had the room next door and did not hear all the raucous and slept very well. So stay away from the street rooms if you can help it!
Also, be advised this is a gorgeaus but very old building, the rooms are on the 2nd floor and there is no elevator, so a handicapped person would have a hard time getting upstairs.
The hotel location is great. We went walking around the plaza, just a few steps away, they had artisans displaying stunning wood carvings as well as sculpture clay art; very pretty and the artisans are also very knowledgeable and eager to answer any question you may have about their craft. They also had pretty and inexpensive hand made souvenirs; far from the "made in China" rubbish and a much more elegant gift. Right across we saw a long line of locals waiting to buy ice cream, so we decided to follow suit... And it was so worth it! Made on site every day, ice cream in all kinds of fruit flavors as well as vanilla and chocolate. Oh my goodness, we tried guanábana, coco (coconut), parcha (passion fruit) and fresa (strawberry). They were all very tasty and delicious and wish I could have tried them all! Llimón (lime) and almendra (almond) were also recommended by locals.. And the prices were so cheap ($3 for two medium size cups with 2 flavors each) you almost feel guilty! (Just leave them a nice tip please :)

Big and comfortable room.
Good location, close to every important attractions.
Breakfast is too simple and is prepared in the hall, which is strange for such a good hotel.
