My husband and I booked our first trip away without our 3yr old daughter -- a four-night getaway to Puerto Rico. We noticed that the guest houses had better rates, and liked the idea of having access to a kitchen to eliminate going out for each meal. The Coqui del Mar was the perfect choice! The room was spacious and clean with a decent-sized kitchen, and a double shower in the bathroom. We had access to boogie boards, beach chairs & umbrellas -- with the beach only a half-block away, we made good use of these. When it came time to sort out our evening adventures, Noyda & Neal (managers) went above and beyond to help us out -- one night Neal even took us for a drive around Isla Verde to show us the various restaurants/bars in the area! After a night out we'd come back and relax in the hot tub outside in the courtyard. The bus stop was nearby, so a couple of times we took it ($.75) into Old San Juan, then hopped a cab home ($20). We enjoyed staying on a residential street, amongst the Puerto Rican people rather than other tourists -- it allowed us to immerse ourselves into the PR culture for a short time. We truly loved our first Puerto Rican getaway! Many thanks to Noyda and Neal for being the perfect hosts :-)

Great experience! My friend and I stayed here for four nights before our cruise and it was just lovely. With small kitchenettes we were able to eat our breakfast outside in the garden and enjoyed the hot tub in the evening. Rooms are clean and beds comfortable, and hosts wonderful and very accommodating. Coqui del Mar is only one short block from a great beach, and an easy drive/bus ride to Old San Juan. I would definitely stay here again!

My 4 person family stayed at the Coqui del Mar for about 6 days. In that time, we felt that the property was ours. Noyda made us feel at home and was very gracious in her suggestions about things and places to eat. She even said if we get lost driving to give her a call and she'd try to help out.

Our apartment was towards the back and we have free use of the patio area. Check with Noyda about using the washer/dryer. This comes in great use as you don't have to bring so much with you. The kitchen was great as you can stock up as much food and beverages as you want. There is a 24/7 supermarket about 10 minutes (driving). The beach is about 5-10 minutes away (walking).

All in all, it was super cozy and clean. Having a computer/TV in the room was a great addition. And surprising, the room can get dark in the morning. So it's great if you want to sleep in. The property is within a gated community, it's quiet and relaxed. But with a car you're minutes away from the beach and from the restaurants and the rest of Puerto Rico!

My two friends and I wanted to escape Chicago's brutal winter weather, chose Puerto Rico as our getaway and selected Coqui del Mar based on the complimentary reviews on TripAdvisor. We knew it would be great, but our eleven days there exceeded our expectations.
We stayed in the spacious El Sol apartment and each of us had her own bedroom and bathroom, an amazing luxury for the very affordable price. Ceiling fans kept us cool and comfortable. Our kitchen was very well planned and equipped -- we could have cooked a lot, but there were so many interesting restaurants to try, recommended by Noyda, that we mostly filled the refrigerator with our delicious leftovers.
We loved Coqui del Mar's neighborhood, with the yards of tropical flowers, only a few minutes to the beach (even at our slow pace loaded down with beach chairs and gear), a five minute walk to the beachside food cart with the best tropical fruit smoothies in Puerto Rico. We met so many friendly people, both locals and other visitors. We wanted a place to stay that was the opposite of a self-contained, all-inclusive resorts that had no local flavor -- and Coqui was perfect, just what we wanted, more than we had hoped for.
And the best part of staying there was the care and friendliness and helpfulness of Noyda, our host. She took care of us as if we were part of her family! Not only did she recommend restaurants, she walked with us and drove us to some of them, and we had the pleasure of eating dinner with her several evenings. We were in San Juan during the time of the San Sebastian Festival and Noyda drove us into Old San Juan on Saturday afternoon and took us to the best places to experience the festivities. If she was going to the grocery store, she stopped by to ask if we needed anything. We will never forget her kindness to us!
Already we are thinking of when we can return to this beautiful, hospitable place.
