We spent a very long weekend in Puerto Rico, and we liked the look of the reviews for La Concha, so we gave it a try. On the whole, it was a pretty nice experience. The hotel services were good, but I didn't find them to be quite up to the Marriott standard--still, no dealbreakers there. The only thing that stands out in my mind was a sliding mirror door that absolutely would not stay on its track, but to be fair, we never called the desk about it, so I'll give them a pass.
The hotel was certainly a haven for partying and for the posh crowd, and we really didn't fit either of those descriptions. (Our days mainly consisted of outdoor adventures--OSJ, El Yunque, etc.) Still, the non-food service staff were very nice. If you're big into the club scene, this place is definitely for you, and even if not, don't necessarily pass it up.
The beach access, pools, hot tubs, and outdoor furniture were all awesome. The bar service was expensive, but that was completely expected. The food, however, was humdrum for great prices. The only outstanding thing was the sushi, but that's more for another review. The foodservice staff was often unattentive, once going on break for about twenty minutes just as we had finished our meal and were waiting on the check.
It's a beautiful hotel in a great location. We won't be coming back--just because there are probably places that suit our tastes and interests better. If you want a lavish beach hotel or a hot dancing/drinking spot, you won't be disappointed.
