We booked this hotel after reading an article in Budget Travel. We checked in knowing it was by a noisy neighborhood bar, so had requested a room on an upper floor. Although the room was small, it was very comfortable. The best surprise was a rooftop patio with tables and chairs for some quiet rest time. There also was hotub we used later. The staff was great and helped in every way they could including some great restaurant recommendations. But be forwarned, this charming old hotel does not have an elevator.

Nice rooms, great decor, and an awesome rooftop terrace! Very clean, except for the floors... broken tiles, etc but it kinda gave the place some character :) GREAT location. Right in the middle of town with short walks to the historic sites, restaurants, and shops.

Recently stayed at Da House for 1 night before the cruise and we were happy with our choice.

1.Reception- Da House staff are very welcoming and helpful. They were very cheerful and funny! 5 Stars!!!
2.Location- WOW. Right in the middle of everything!!! Right-left-Up-Down there is so much to do and all within walking distance. Great restaurants, bars, forts, interesting architecture, you wont be bored. Shopping and alcohol store are all within walking distance too. For first time San Juan travelers: there is no beach in old San Juan but plenty of stuff to see, if you want beach stay on the other side of PR.
3.Rooms- very basic but very clean. Furniture is very minimal but did not need more! Noise-The building is old ( Spanish style) and has no noise isolation no matter where you stay. We stayed during 3 King celebration and party did not finish until 6:30 A.M. Ohhhh god puertoricans know how to party( jealous). We would have joined the party if I didn’t come down with cold. So just prepare yourself for a good party not good rest!
4.Building and Art- the building itself was very interesting and what owners, workers and artists did inside was incredible. The art was an experience on its own!.
5. Reccomendation- I would reccomend visiting Barrachina restaurant located 5 minutes from Da House. It is a birthplace of Pina Collada and has very cute patio!!!

I would definitely recommend staying at Da House and would return in a heartbeat. Just expect it to be very noisy!

The room is okay, but certainly not great. There is a lot of noise, especially from the club and bar downstairs. No views what-so-ever. Housekeeping only when requested. Location okay, but not great for the money,
