This hotel is nice. It's right in the middle of everywere. Only about 2-3 blocks from the beach. Free breakfast every morning on the terrace on the 7th floor with a great view!!! Very clean and the staff were nice and helpful. We had no complaints.

The hotel is located in a good area, restaurants and shops are just a short walk away. Old San Juan is not that far away...you can take a cab for abut 10-15 bucks or take the bus for only75 cents.

Very conveniently located in Condado. 3 short blocks to beach, tons of restaurants nearby. Right down the street from the Walgreens for various supplies, including wine. Wifi in the room. Bus on Ashford to Viejo San Juan is very easy but one time returning the driver seemed to disappear for hours at the terminal in Viejo San Juan, aggravating a whole bus load of waiting tourists. Later figured out the non-touristy and frequent local bus the 5T runs just on the other side of the freeway in Santurce would have been an alternative.

Rooftop breakfast is awesome. Loved staring at the view of paddle boarders in the lagoon each day. Room was simple but nice, seemed fairly recently redone. Very affordable, not sure what some of the negative reviews are about.

Rented a car for second half of stay to travel around the island and parking is very limited on site and a challenge in Condado generally (as one would expect in a busy touristy area of a large city) but not impossible. I felt quite safe parking on the street in Condado but probably would be much more cautious on the Santurce side of the freeway, esp. with a rental.

However still made one walk over to the Santurce side in search of the excellent restaurant, Jose Enrique's. Was very doable, though it felt sort of like downtown Los Angeles, i.e. no San Juan natives walk anywhere it seems. Felt like a bit of an adventure as the place has no sign and is in a house on a residential street just off the Santurce Market. Amazing food. Went early so missed the wait everyone complains about.

Used the computer in the hotel lobby to print boarding pass before flying home.

I found the staff very helpful and would definitely recommend this place as a very decent and affordable place to stay, very conveniently located in ultra-touristy Condado.

I seem to "win" this place a lot when I do a Priceline-Name-Your-Own-Price deal...yes, the hallways could use remodeling but it's a nice low-key quiet spot in the middle of EVERY place you'd want to go in San Juan! Great trendy upscale pizza spot just opened next door! It doesn't have a pool but the beach is close by!

I stayed at the Quality Inn El Portal Last September for one night before leaving on a cruise. The service is was not friendly but also not rude. The front desk clerk at night just treated us like cattle. Just checked us in, gave us the key and told us what floor the room was in. The clerk in the morning was a little friendlier.

The room was very nice clean, not too big and not too small. Everything was just fine.

In the morning we went to the roof to have breakfast. Let me tell you, the breakfast was great!! They had eggs, sausage, Puerto Rican coffee, Puero Rican yogurt, waffles, and more food that I cannot remember. It definitely made up for the clerk the night before.

This place is close to major shopping mall, and stores. It is a five minute walk to the beach.

I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting PR.
