We went to San Juan, PR about 2 years ago, for Valentine's Day weekend (2005) We went with another couple (good friends or ours) We got one of the the 2 bed suites (the beds are about Queen size) The room was nice and spacious, with our own private bathroom, a kitchen area and balcony. The area was nice, right next to a park and within 5 min. wallking distance to the beach and some restaurants. The room was clean, and spacious...although you cannot compare this to a 5 star hotel. If you are someone who is used to the fancy hotels, then this place might not be for you. This is more for people who are on a budget and want to have fun. Again, we are also used to nice things clean things, and this hotel provided everything that we needed, including giving us more of a PR feel. San Juan is actually very americanized, sort of reminds me of Miami...if you want more of the culture feel try going to the other side of the island..and if you get the chance go to Culebra (need to catch a ferry) It will be useful to have a rental car if you do want to drive around and see what PR has to offer. But if you want to stay in the San Juan area, I hear that you can take .25 cent bus rides to places including Old Town San Juan, which is a must go, go to the castle and take lots of pictures.

This is a perfect, reasonably priced motel downtown...it's just a couple of blocks from the trolley so it worked out perfectly for a car free weekend from the OC - we took the train, grabbed the trolley at the corner and within minutes had checked into this retro motel.

Although old, the room was SPOTLESS and furnished cutely with mission style furniture and a small fridge (very handy)...there's a great market right across the street. We could reach everywhere we wanted to go on foot and at $3.20 a gallon, it was a treat to not use the car!

We've travelled all over the place and this has been the best bang for the buck. We were very disappointed when we moved to a B & B across town. We should have stayed at the El Prado for our whole stay!

We're already planning our next trip!

This Hotel was so disgusting that we didnt even end up staying the night. We didnt get a refund but thats better than living with bugs! It was smelly and disgusting. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

Just 2 words: "lovely" and "convenient" are needed to describe El Prado's new Rentals.

We were 3 persons staying 6 nights in a 2 BR apartment this November and found it to be clean and comfortable, nicely decorated with up-to-date colors and mellow polished wood ethnic pieces. The beach down the street had a little seaweed from a recent storm, but it's fine. We enjoyed playing tennis at the lighted new PR Tennis Assoc courts across the street for only $4 an hour! The apartment was convenient to everything we wanted to do, and hey!, it's great to come back after a night on the town and just drive right in to one's own reserved parking spot...

The owner was welcoming and pleasant and had suggestions that really helped our sightseeing. As repeat guests of El Prado, we highly recommend this new option.
